Many people have different views when it comes to the lottery. Some believe it is all just a bit of luck, whereas others believe in the power of patterns.

No matter your opinion on the lottery, new research from Betway may have you rethinking your playing tactics. Despite the UK lottery running two games twice weekly, it still feels like winning is purely up to chance.

However, recent data is showing that there could be some overdue numbers that are patiently waiting for their turn to be drawn in the winning combination.

The latest analysis, which is based on draws from October 2015 to January 2025, has revealed which numbers are the most overdue and could give you an advantage when picking your next six lucky numbers, reports the Express.

The first number that is way overdue is the number five, which has not been seen in the lottery since October 2 last year. Next on the list hasn't appeared since the 9th of the same month, which is the number 55. If fives are your lucky number you may have not had much luck recently.

Third on the list is 48, which hasn't been drawn since October 19, 2024. The list also includes the numbers 23, 30 and 45, which have all had noticeable gaps since their last appearances.

On the flip side, there are certain pairs and triplets that have been found to be way more common than others. For example, the most frequent duo is the pairing of the numbers two and 54, which have shown up 20 times in the last decade.

Other common pairs include 37 and 42 - which have been drawn 19 times - and 42 and 58, which have partnered up in a draw 18 times.

In terms of triplets, the numbers 14, 19 and 38 are the most frequent, with six appearances together in the last 10 years. This is followed by the combination of 1, 20 and 24, as well as 2, 32, and 54. Both triplets have also been drawn six times.

Taking note of these combinations could lead to some extra money in your bank account in 2025, which is something no one would be complaining about. However, there is no guaranteed method to winning the lottery, but these trends may influence your future number selection. All that's left to say is good luck!
