Spoiler warning: This article reveals the winner of the show and what happened in the final

Finalists in The Traitors have finally found out that Charlotte is not Welsh. The revelation, which came as a surprise to her fellow cast members, had some in denial and saying she was the "most Welsh person [they] have ever met".

The Faithful-turned-Traitor decided in the very first episode that she would be adopting a fake Welsh accent as part of her gameplan so that she would seem "more trustworthy" amongst other players. And as unconventional as it may sound the plan had seemingly worked for the player, who is actually from London, as she remained true to her faux lilt until the very end. Her secret was not revealed until the visual podcast The Traitors: Uncloaked – but not without a tease from Claudia Winkleman at the end of The Traitors in which she told the winners Leanne and Jake: "I can’t wait for you to find out where Charlotte's from".

On the podcast her fellow players had a lot to say about the revelation. During the final episode of the visual podcast the long-standing secret was announced. In response Alex said: "I feel like it must be easier for her to put the persona and throw people under the bus as a Traitor, when everything about her is pretend." Joe, who was a good friend of Charlotte, remarked that she was the "most Welsh person I have ever met" while Leon, who was in disbelief asked: "How dare she?".

During the podcast Charlotte did admit that using the accent had been a "headache" for her during the series and revealed she had softened the accent once Elen, from north Wales, was banished from the show in the second episode.

But this wasn't the only secret that Charlotte kept. In the seventh episode, following the banishment of Linda, who was the second Traitor to go, Minah offered Charlotte an ultimatum – either join her as a Traitor or be 'murdered' as a Faithful. Charlotte chose to be a Traitor and saw the banishment of two of her fellow Traitors – Minah and Freddie.

When it all seemed that Charlotte would reach the top however the penultimate episode saw Francesca win the powerful position of the 'Seer' which meant she could find out the true identity of another chosen player. She chose her friend Charlotte who she believed was a Faithful.

However, as the first part of the final episode showed, Francesca found out that Charlotte was in fact a Traitor. In response interior designer Francesca was visibly upset and said the revelation was "difficult", while Charlotte reminded her: "This is a secret meeting with no evidence."

The next morning the two went against one another with each claiming the other was a Traitor. But in the roundtable it became apparent the other three contestants – Jake, Leanne, and Alexander – believed Francesca. Charlotte was immediately banished from the castle without confirming if she was a Traitor or Faithful.
