Love Island winner Molly Smith was a well-known model, before she first hit our TV screens back in 2020 on the reality TV show. Going on to meet fellow housemate Callum Jones, whom she dated for three years, the couple split up, only to find themselves in a surprise twist living back together in the Love Island: All Stars house, which aired earlier this year. There, the 30-year-old personal trainer ended up winning the show alongside her current flame, footballer Tom Clare.

Below, on the day she launches her fitness platform, Move with Molly, she talks about owning her dream business, life post-Love Island and how she is enjoying spending time with her boyfriend Tom.

Congratulations on your new fitness business! What is the main goal you want to achieve from it?

Thanks, I am buzzing as it is something I have been working on for ages; it really is my dream job. The main thing I hope I can bring to it is a lovely community, a place where people can achieve their fitness goals, share personal stories and have each other’s back. The team and I will be on hand to offer programmes for all levels and provide nutritional plans too to try and help you achieve the dream body and feel fit and strong in yourself.

I just try to ignore the trolls. I can’t please everybody. I mean some followers were saying they didn’t like my abs but I try not to get bothered.

You have spoken of your own body issues, after leaving the Love Island villa and being trolled by some people calling you too skinny. How did you deal with that?

Yes, I got a bit of a backlash about my body but I just try to ignore the trolls. I can’t please everybody. I mean some followers were saying they didn’t like my abs but I try not to get bothered. That is one of the reasons why I love fitness so much as whatever size you are, you can still be strong.

For me, lifting weights has helped make me build up muscle and I am really keen for older women who may be scared to lift weights, to know how good it is for you. I think, particularly as we age, we need to strengthen our joints and there’s nothing better than weight lifting. For me, fitness really helps improve my own mental health as after I work out I always feel so much better.

Your fitness plan also offers nutritional programmes. What is your main bit of advice when it comes to food?

I’m so against the whole 'no carbs before Marbs' phrase. ['No carbohydrates before Marbella' is a saying first used by TOWIE star Ellie Redman in the build-up to the cast´s trip to Marbella back in 2011.] I believe you must eat everything in moderation. I’m not going to tell you to starve yourselves or avoid certain food types on this plan. It’s all about feeding your body correctly. I mean I just came back from Dubai and I ate everything in moderation as no way was I going to deprive myself on holiday.

What was it like being away with Tom on your first holiday together?

It was amazing as we went to Dubai and had so much fun. The best part was doing a sky dive with him as that was on my bucket list of things I wanted to do before I was 30.

I know people have spoken of our age gap but being five years older than Tom is no problem at all. He’s actually so mature and seems far older than he is.

Our relationship is going really well, I have no complaints. I know people have spoken of our age gap but being five years older than him is no problem at all. He’s actually so mature and seems far older than he is.

You have numerous fashion and beauty work deals in progress, as well as your new fitness venture. When you are not working, what do you like to do?

I am actually really boring. I like nothing better than going for walks with my dog. What I am always up for though is a challenge so give me something like SAS Who Dares Wins and I’d throw myself into it.

Do you ever feel under pressure being in front of cameras, papped wherever you go and having a huge social media platform with nearly two million followers?

Everything if I’m honest has been pretty overwhelming since I won Love Island. I try and take it all in and really appreciate the success, luck and fun I have had but at the end of the day I am just me. I have a strong network of family and friends who keep me grounded.

I’m just enjoying life and embracing it right now and cannot wait to start helping people with their fitness goals. To be part of a community like this is going to be amazing and I’ll be trying to plan some classes with those that sign up so we can do them together in real life.
