Miriam Margoyles keen to live with longtime partner Heather Sutherland

Miriam Margoyles wants to live with her longtime partner Heather Sutherland after 55 years together.

The Harry Potter actress, 82, has been in a relationship with historian Heather, 80, for 55 years but they have always lived apart, with Miriam currently based in London and Heather in Amsterdam.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Miriam shared that she wants to live with Heather so they can make the most of the time they have left together.

"We are together, but we live apart. She is in Amsterdam, and I am in London but now we want to live together," she said. "I really do want to live with her because we are old, and we haven't got much time left. It is silly to live apart."

The Age of Innocence actress has been with Heather, an Australian historian and former professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, since 1968.

In March 2020, Miriam told the Mirror that "not living together" is the secret to their long-lasting relationship.

"I've been with the same woman for 52 years, I really love her and that's a great anchor in my life. The secret is not living together," she shared. "We did for a short time, but mostly we haven't because she works in Holland.

"It's worked for us, because we're both involved in what we do and have no children. I never wanted kids. They're a nuisance."

Miriam's interview on The Graham Norton Show airs on Friday evening.
