Michelle Yeoh Just Stepped Out With An 'Old Money' Blonde Bob
As she began the press tour for the highly-anticipated silver-screen adaptation of Wicked, Michelle Yeoh appeared to embrace a more experimental side of her red-carpet glam.
For the LA premiere, the Malaysian-born actress swapped her signature long brunette locks for an ultra-glamorous, heritage blonde bob. Created by the hairstylist Renato Campora, the style features elements of the 'old-money bob', a popular look for 2024 favoured by celebrities such as Zendaya and Jourdan Dunn.

She styled her new hair with a glittering Balenciaga couture gown and equally impactful Bulgari jewellery.
Hairstylist Tom Smith described the 'old-money bob' as 'a thick and luxurious hairstyle that is cut with blunt lines and minimal layering, combined with voluminous, cushioned blow-dry styling.' It's a nod to the sophisticated style made popular by New York socialites in the '50s, such as Lee Radziwill, CZ Guest and Marella Agnelli.
'This will suit those whose personal aesthetic is more polished and grown-up,' says Smith. It's a perfect fit for Yeoh, then, whose style is always impeccably put-together – whether she's in Dior Couture at the Oscars or attending Milan Fashion Week in a crisp white shirt.
The hairstyle also pays homage to Yeoh's character in Wicked. She plays the Dean of Sorcery Studies, Madame Morrible, who sports a signature platinum grey updo. Yeoh's own blonde bob takes on a more angular shape with darker roots for a cooler, dramatic edge.
This isn't the first time that Yeoh has played with her hair on the press tour. Just a few days prior, Campora leaned into a sleek hairstyle with a full, eyebrow-grazing fringe. Such quick hair transformations often tap into clever use of extensions and wigs – but regardless of real or faux, one thing's for certain: there's really no look Yeoh can't pull off.
