The first Monday in May can only mean one thing: the Met Gala is back in full swing. After a year’s hiatus and a pared-back affair in September 2021, the annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute has returned with a bang.
Celebrities from across the globe and spanning several industries, descended on the Met’s steps in New York for the glamorous evening, and this year’s Met Gala theme based on the museum’s exhibition, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, certainly did not disappoint.
Among those taking the ‘gilded glamour’ brief literally was Kim Kardashian, who’s Met Gala red carpet outfits have always been central to the news cycle, wearing Marilyn Monroe’s exact golden dress worn by the actress to serenade President John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday in 1962.
Elsewhere, co-host Blake Lively stunned in a custom Versace gown inspired by the history of New York City architecture, and released the decorative copper bow to reveal an even longer light blue train, said to represent the effect the weather has on the Statue of Liberty, whilst Billie Eilish wowed for a second time in a row wearing a corseted Gucci number that looked like it was straight out of the 19th century.

The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board needled Donald Trump for relenting on his tariffs just hours after the president called out the paper’s billionaire owner, Rupert Murdoch, while he was in the Oval Office. The editorial, which ran under the headline “Trump Blinks on North American Tariffs‚” pushed against the notion that the president’s 25 percent import taxes on allies Canada and Mexico “are some genius power play, as the Trump media chorus is boasting.” Earlier on Monday, when the 93-y
It’s 6.30 on a Saturday evening when the doorbell rings. There, on the step outside our home in County Down, I’m confronted with my wife’s colleague, a man and a woman I’ve never met and swaying unsteadily, held up between them and looking the worse for wear, is my 38-year-old wife, Leanne.
Donald Trump has been moaning about the UK and EU not buying cars from US manufacturers such as Ford, Chrysler and General Motors. He has a point. Last year, US-brand cars made up a tiny fraction of the new models sold here. And Mr Trump needs to know: there are some very good reasons for that.
As part of their continued efforts to downsize federal agencies, the Trump administration, along with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), are reportedly looking into dismantling the Department of Education next through executive actions. Citing unnamed sources familiar with the discussions, The Wall Street Journal reports that officials have ruminated over a particular executive order that would shift some of the agency’s functions to other departments and shut down functions
President Donald Trump declared Tuesday the U.S. would “take over” the war-torn Gaza Strip and said he was willing to put American troops on the ground to do it. “The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Trump said in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The president said the U.S. would “level the site” and “create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.”
Prince Harry received just a fraction of the reported £10 million ($12.5 million) settlement he reached with Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (NGN), with “75 percent” going towards his costs, and a smaller chunk to his co-defendant, Tom Watson, a source with knowledge of the matter has told The Daily Beast. Harry’s team has consistently emphasized that the “full and unequivocal” apology to Harry and his mother and NGN’s admission of criminality at the Sun were the critical factors in his d
