Mercury is returning to the skies of Libra for the first time this year.
Known as our cosmic messenger, Mercury (the planet of communication and business) will move through the zodiac sign from Sept. 26 through Oct. 13. PEOPLE's resident astrologer Kyle Thomas points out various ways we will be astrologically impacted during its transit.
With Mercury in Libra, Thomas says our minds will focus on balance as we're likely to be "more inclined to consider other perspectives." Plus, he says we'll set out to find "commitment and connection" during this time.
This particular transit could be advantageous for "negotiations," he points out, noting that "things could smooth out" if you've been experiencing "rocky relationships" with noticeable frustrations or conflicts. "Things could smooth out if you approach it with diplomacy and grace," he says.
Libra is considered a cardinal Air sign, which Thomas says "will enhance our intellectual and logical nature." It's also ruled by Venus, which he says "can grant us more charm, humor and social energy in our communications sector."
On the flip side, Thomas notes this energy could also make us more "passive-aggressive, superficial, deceptive or willing to give in to others at the expense of our own ideas." Focus this energy on "cooperation" rather than "domination" — because if used wisely, he says "you could go quite far."

Aries (March 21 to April 19)
Prioritize partnerships, Aries! During Mercury’s vast flight across from you in the sky, Thomas says it's "an excellent period to make longterm plans, negotiate or discuss commitments."
If single, he says there's potential to find others "who see eye to eye" with you. Above all, he says to "know that harmony in connection could be more easily found."
Taurus (April 20 to May 20)
Get ready to be busy, Taurus! A mixture of personal and professional opportunities may come your way during this planetary transit in the cosmos.
"You could find that a plethora of new projects and responsibilities are crossing your desk from your employer or being assigned to you," predicts Thomas. "This is a great time to assess your work-life balance and look for another job if you’re unhappy with your current one."
Elsewhere in his prediction, Thomas says it's possible your mind will be "more focused on physical health" at this time. Whichever it may be, tend to it.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
A "magnificent period" is here for you, Gemini! "Your mind will be fluttering with passionate thoughts around romance, dating or passions that mean a lot to you," says Thomas.
Those who aren't in a relationship should capitalize on this energy. "Try to connect with new options," he puts forth, perhaps through social media or a dating app.
The period Mercury is traveling through Libra could also affect your imagination, generating new and creative ideas. "Let the positive energy invigorate you," Thomas says.
Cancer (June 21 to July 22)
Home and family matters are about to be top of mind, Cancer. Thomas says "negotiations or contract signings" could pop up around this time.
If looking to move or buy real estate, he predicts the potential to "find what you’re looking for." He adds, "You may find a lovely sale around home décor or possessions, too!"

Leo (July 23 to Aug. 22)
Your communications sector is about to be energized, Leo! Thomas says a "milestone writing, speaking or advertising project" may be in the works as a result.
If you’d like to update your resume, website, social media or portfolio, he suggests "now would be a good time to do so." Communication endeavors aside, he says that "short-distance travel" may be explored at this time — if that's the case, take advantage of adventure!
Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)
Mind your money, Virgo! Your planetary ruler, Mercury, will be dancing around in your financial sector.
"Understanding your income and expenses will be of paramount concern," says Thomas." Check your budget and find out where you can cut excess." If looking for a side hustle or new job, he says to "use this energy now."
Libra (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)
As Mercury energizes your zodiac sign, Libra, Thomas predicts "you'll be drumming up brilliant and visionary ideas." Use this time to "pitch your ideas" and "brainstorm" them, too!
"Your persuasive power will be on the top of its game and you could feel that you’re in a frenzy of daily affairs," he puts forth. "Expect great speed to life!"
Scorpio (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)
Focus on stillness now, Scorpio. "Doing so will allow you to drum up brilliant and powerful thoughts," Thomas puts forth.
As Mercury ignites your subconscious, he says "you could find that your dreams and intuition are firing on all cylinders." He suggests "writing down any important messages that come to you repeatedly" to make the most of this energy.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21)
Buckle up for "an exhilarating moment" in your social life, Sagittarius! As Mercury spins in your friendship sector, Thomas predicts "you’ll be hearing from many people who you love and adore."
Furthermore, he points out that this is considered "a fabulous moment to network, ask for a favor from someone you know or even try your hand at online dating!" He adds, "Some of you could be involved in a communications-related endeavor that allows you to build greater contacts."

Capricorn (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)
Pay attention to your professional world, Capricorn. "You could be making major progress in a particular endeavor or find yourself chasing after a promotion or milestone project," says Thomas.
"You’ll have the words and ideas to impress VIPs, so go for it now," he continues. "Outline your ambitions and get strategic now!"
Aquarius (Jan. 20 to Feb. 18)
As our cosmic messenger darts through a fellow Air sign, Aquarius, Thomas says "you’ll be feeling good vibes to pursue new territories!"
"This would be a fantastic moment to pursue adventure, book long-distance travel or even consider trying out exotic new restaurants," he says. "If involved in the media or academics, things should go in your favor. International relations or business could fare well, too."
Pisces (Feb. 19 to March 20)
Get ready to be feeling the urge to merge, Pisces! As Mercury energizes your sector of deep union, Thomas says "you may be assessing where you and a partner stand."
