Meghan swaps her signature updos for cool California mermaid waves
After a quiet September, the Duchess of Sussex returned to the public eye with an appearance at the LA Children's Hospital Gala over the weekend.
Meghan attended the gala with friend and co-founder of the Alliance of Moms community, Kelly McKee Zafjen. The event pays tribute to the Children Hospital patients alongside its physicians, researches and caregivers who work tirelessly to improve the health conditions of vulnerable children.
It's a cause close to the duchess' heart, as she explained in an interview on the red carpet, describing the work that they do as "otherwordly". A long-time advocate for mental health, family care, and gender equity, she also noted that "the amount of work that they do for families that could really not afford this level of care is something that I think should never be overlooked".
Meghan chose to rewear a scarlet Carolina Herrera dress for the occasion, complete with matching shoes. The 43 year-old is often seen with her signature undone chignon or sporting a messy bun but, on this occasion, she embraced a polished-yet-laidback Californian vibe with long mermaid waves by Hector Garcia of Highbrow Hippie salon, and colour by Kadi Lee.
While bob haircuts and shorter styles are currently the look du jour for celebrities, it's refreshing to see someone staying true to their own personal style with longer lengths. Garcia refined the beachy waves by ensuring that Markle's hair remained glossy, rather than loading up on too much texturising salt spray. To achieve the ethereal, loose curls, a three-barrelled 'mermaid' waver will do the job at home in record time. Simply brush out the strands when done for an easy finish.
Paired with sun-kissed , warm peach blush on the cheeks and a neutral lip, it seems LA life is working beautifully for Meghan.
