Meghan Markle Reveals How She and Prince Harry Make Thanksgiving “Magical” for Archie and Lilibet
While hosting a holiday dinner for Afghan refugee women, Meghan Markle revealed her upcoming Thanksgiving plans. “Every single holiday is a new adventure,” she told Marie Claire.
“I love the holidays,” the Duchess of Sussex said, adding that her kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are now “three and five, so every year it gets better.”
She continued, “at first, I think as a mom with children you’re just enjoying having them there, but they’re not understanding everything that’s happening yet. But now we’re at the age where I just can’t wait to see it through their lens every year.”
Thanksgiving, Meghan says, is “always pretty low-key,” but “being close to my mom is great.” Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland, also lives in California. “I was thinking about, in the past few years of having Thanksgiving here, like many of us, I think you always make sure there’s room at the table for your friends who don’t have family, which is really key,” she said. Her friend Gloria Steinem even joined one year, she revealed.
Back in 2021, Meghan told Ellen DeGeneres about that year's Thanksgiving plans: “I love to cook, we'll be home and just relax and sort of settle in. It's our second Thanksgiving home in California, so it will be nice.”
During Thanksgiving dinner, “we’re always making sure we have something fun to do,” Meghan told Marie Claire. “Like any other family you spend time having a great meal and then what do you do? Play games, all the same stuff, someone brings a guitar—fun.”
Her ultimate goal is for her kids, Archie and Lili, to get to experience “magic” traditions, like “great recipes that they end up connecting to a formative memory” at Thanksgiving.
