Meghan Markle is a sartorial muse in her own right but, there’s no denying the fact that ever since she swapped the Hollywood hills for Kensington Palace the former Suits actress has further cemented her status in the fashion industry.

Following in the footsteps of Kate Middleton, the 36-year-old has garnered a serious fanbase with every outfit that she dons, falling victim to an explosive flash of camera shutters.

And within a sheer matter of minutes, her latest look is shared (and imitated) across the globe.

So it comes as no surprise to learn that the former actress’ wardrobe has the power to bring in approximately £500 million a year, according to Brand Finance.

Seems a staggering amount, but this is merely the tip of the fashion iceberg, as her May nuptials will only further deepen the nation’s interest.

And the royal-to-be looks set to overtake the Duchess of Cambridge in the style stakes who currently contributes approximately £1 billion to the economy every year.

Ever since her 2011 nuptials, the 36-year-old has reigned supreme as one of the world’s most admired style muses.

With an innate ability to send items flying from the shelves and with fashion companies succumbing to fast-paced demand, the ‘Kate Effect’ only further spiralled out of control when she announced her first pregnancy.

But with a loyal US fanbase on board and a more imitable wardrobe, could Meghan soon overtake her future sister-in-law in the style stakes?

Only time will tell.
