Mental health website crashes following Dukes and Duchesses of Sussex and Cambridge promotional video

A mental health website featuring a video voiced by the Dukes and Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex is struggling to cope with demand.

The Every Mind Matters website officially launched yesterday with a promotional film voiced by the royals.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and Prince William collaborated to narrate the three-minute long film, made to promote the site: a joint initiative by Public Health England (PHE) and the NHS.

The film was teased in a promotional clip circulated on Twitter before its release.

But, some users trying to access the site were left experiencing intermittent error messages according to the BBC.

“Something went wrong. Please refresh or try again later,” read the message in screenshots obtained by the news broadcaster.

Public Health England is investigating the crash, which could be due to an increase in traffic.

The film is written by ‘Notting Hill’ and ‘Love Actually’ creator Richard Curtis and directed by British portrait and fashion photographer and director Rankin.

While the royals voice the film, celebrities including actors Gillian Anderson and Glenn Close, singer Professor Green, former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff, television presenter Davina McCall, and Bake Off star Nadiya Hussain are seen on screen.

In the voiceover, the royals say talk about the challenges faced by mental health issues.

Prince William begins: "Everyone knows that feeling, when life gets on top of us.

"All over the country, millions of us face challenges to our mental health - at all ages - at all intensities, and for all sorts of reasons.

"We feel stressed, low, anxious, or have trouble sleeping. Me, you..."

Prince Harry adds: "Your brother, your mother, your colleague, or your neighbour. Waiting, wondering, hoping, hurting.

"We think there's nothing to be done. Nothing we can do about it."

Meghan follows, saying: "But that's so wrong. There are things we can do. From today, there's a new way to help turn things around. Every Mind Matters will show you simple ways to look after your mental health."

"It'll get you started with a free online plan designed to help you deal with stress, boost your mood, improve your sleep and feel more in control,” finishes Kate.

The collaboration represents the royal four’s first campaign together since Harry and Meghan announced their decision to split from the couples’ joint Royal Foundation charity in June this year.

Prior to the splitting up of their joint royal foundation, the Sussexes and Cambridges launched a text messaging service for people going through a mental crisis back in May.
