For many people, the Christmas break is an opportunity to relax on the sofa and enjoy back-to-back festive films.
However, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are choosing to be impressively active during their holiday in Canada.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been spotted hiking and jogging on Vancouver Island near to where they are staying with their baby son Archie.
According to the Vancouver Sun, they have made several hikes up Horth Hill Regional Park.
The 29-hectare green space is a popular local beauty spot with numerous scenic trails.
Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, have also be seen jogging in nearby town, North Saanich, report the paper.
Bev Koffel, who owns restaurant Deep Cove Chalet with her husband Pierre Koffel, told them that she had seen the couple and met their security guards.
She said: “Horth Hill’s become a very popular place now. And they jog around, so they’ve been seen.
“It’s kind of exciting. I hope everything goes fine for them.
“They’re breaking away from tradition and I just wish them all the best.”
The Daily Mail have reported that the couple spent Archie’s first Christmas in a £10.7m waterfront mansion.
As well four acres of land, the eight-bedroom property is also believed to have two private beaches.
According to Hello!, a statement released by Buckingham Palace said their choice of location "reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both".
It added: “The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family.
“They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
Meghan lived in Toronto while filming Suits, and she and Harry made their first public appearance in the same city during the 2017 Invictus Games.
It was revealed earlier this year that the Duke and Duchess had informed the Queen they would not be spending Christmas with the rest of the royal family at Sandringham.
They are taking a six week break from royal duties, which PM Justin Trudeau revealed just before Christmas would be spent in Canada.
Meanwhile, Harry’s brother Prince William, along with wife Kate Middleton and their three children, spent the festive period with the monarch on her Norfolk estate.
