Meet the cast and characters of "Storks"
With the recent successes of "Zootopia", "Finding Dory", "The Secret Life Of Pets" as well as "Kubo And The Two Strings", 2016 is certainly a good year for animated movies.
Up next is the Warner Bros film "Storks", an animated feature centred on the titular white birds switching their professions from delivering babies, to now delivering packages for internet retail giant Cornerstone.com.
As we are anticipating the upcoming release of "Storks" this 22 September 2016, let's take a look at the cast and characters that help shaped this animated movie.
1. Junior (Andy Samberg)
The main protagonist of this animated movie, Junior, is a hardworking stork who is about to be promoted as the new boss of Cornerstone.com.
A former cast member of "Saturday Night Live", Andy Samberg is no stranger to handling voice performances in animated movies following his prior experiences with "Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs" and its 2013 sequel as well as "Hotel Transylvania" and its 2015 sequel. Samberg also appeared in various comedies such as "Hot Rod" and "Friends With Benefits" alongside Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.
2. Tulip (Katie Crown)
The red-haired Tulip is the only human working for the otherwise storks-centric Cornerstone.com. An orphan since 18-years-ago due to an accident that ruined her delivery address, she is the last baby ever made at Stork Mountain. Both Tulip and Junior are best friends.
With "Storks", this could be a big break for Katie Crown if done right. She is previously known as a TV actress, with several appearances in the two animated series, "Adventure Time" and "Clarence".
3. Hunter (Kelsey Grammer)
The well-dressed Hunter is the CEO of Cornerstone.com. When he is about to move up to the head office, he offers Junior a promotion as the new boss. Except with one condition: Hunter must not screw up on a given period of time and fire Tulip.
Voiced by Kelsey Grammer, this veteran comedian needs no introduction, especially if you're a true TV fan. A multiple award winner ranging from the Emmys to the Golden Globes, Grammer is best known for his signature sitcoms including "Cheers" in the '80s and its successful spinoff, "Frasier" in the '90s. He can be seen in movies as well, with Hollywood blockbusters such as "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Transformers: Age Of Extinction".
4. The Wolfpack (Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele)
The Wolfpack consists about 100 wolves, and this pack of hungry wild animals originally wanted to eat the Baby (yes, that cute-as-a-button pink-haired toddler). But they soon change their minds.
Best known as the two members of the Comedy Central sketch series, "Key & Peele", Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele got their big break in this year's "Keanu". Like "Storks", "Keanu" also revolves around a cute little thing. But instead of a baby, it's a kitten.
5. Jasper (Danny Trejo)
Jasper is the giant stork who accidentally ruined Tulip's delivery map many years ago. Even with Tulip now all grown up, he still thinks of her as his baby.
The craggy-faced Danny Trejo is mostly known for playing villains in the past such as in "Desperado" and "Con Air". For the newer generations of moviegoers, he is best known for playing the B-movie action hero in "Machete" and its 2013 sequel.
6. Sarah and Henry Gardner (Jennifer Aniston and Ty Burrell)
The Gardner family, led by mom and pop Sarah and Henry, are two busy parents who hardly spend quality time with their son, Nate. As a solution, Henry writes a letter to the storks requesting them for a baby brother for Nate.
No stranger to playing comedy roles, Jennifer Aniston got her first big break on television when she played Rachel Green on the long-running sitcom "Friends" back in the '90s. "Storks" would mark her second stint for voicing a role in an animated feature following "The Iron Giant" in 1999.
Ty Burrell, who carries the voice of Henry Gardner, is a comedian best known by today's viewers for his role in the award-winning sitcom "Modern Family". Prior to "Storks", Burrell has been voicing various roles in animated movies including "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" and this year's "Finding Dory".
7. Nate (Anton Starkman)
Sarah and Henry Gardner's son, Nate, is a lonely child whose parents are often too busy to spend time with him. So Nate ends up getting his parents involved in preparing their house for a baby delivery, a result that reminded them all of the fun they have as a happy family.
Anton Starkman is hardly a recognisable name in the movies. Instead, he is primarily known for his television works, which includes a recurring role in "American Horror Story". He can be seen in other TV series too, including "Teen Wolf" and this year's "Dead Of Summer".
8. Pigeon Toady (Stephen Kramer Glickman)
Pigeon Toady is one of the employees working for Cornerstone.com. Considered to be a villain in "Storks", his mission is to prevent Junior and Tulip from delivering the baby.
Stephen Kramer Glickman's primary works are mostly involved in television shows such as the Nickelodeon series "Big Time Rush". "Storks" would mark Glickman's first animated movie in his career.
"Storks" opens cinemas nationwide on 22 September 2016.
