Max George reveals he's in hospital awaiting tests and surgery as he shares 'difficult' health news
Max George has revealed that doctors have found “some issues” with his heart after a terrifying hospital dash. The Wanted singer took to Instagram to share the news with fans and added that he was undergoing more tests to determine the extent of the problems.
Announcing the news on Thursday, 12 December, Max, 36, explained how he’d been admitted to hospital the day prior after feeling unwell as he shared a snap of himself in his hospital bed and gave a thumbs up for the camera. Despite admitting that it had come as a “huge shock”, the All Time Low singer added that he was surrounded by supportive friends and family, including his partner Maisie Smith, who he has been dating since 2022.
“Hey everyone, Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart. I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet,” he wrote.

“It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support by my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place.
“Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was."
Rounding off his post, the Heart Vacancy singer remained positive as he told his 366,000 followers that they could expect updates regarding the situation. “Apologies if I bore you with updates in the coming weeks..I’ve probably got a month in a bed and there’s not THAT much to do! Let’s do this!," he added. "Much love, Max x.”
In response to the news, fans and famous faces flocked to the comments section to rally around the Strictly Come Dancing star. “Oh my goodness hope all OK & you’re back on your feet soon xx,” wrote Charlotte Hawkins. “Get well soon Max,” added Westlife's Nicky Byrne.
“Sending you so much love Max and wishing you a speedy recovery,” commented one fan. “Oh gosh Max sending you all the love hope you feel much better soon strongest person I know hoping you recover very soon,” another added.
