New York Fashion Week not only highlighted the best in ready-to-wear, but also gave space to some of the most established European jewelry houses, from Bulgari to Boucheron. Not to be overlooked was the much-anticipated opening of Jesse Lazowski’s second standalone namesake store, Marlo Laz, on an Upper East Side block of Madison Avenue. The timing was perfect, as the designer was also celebrating the brand’s 10th anniversary.

Upon entering this jewel box of a store, which Lazowski calls her sunken living room, the cases were filled with her signature yellow gold medallions, talismans and chains, as well as several pieces of her recently launched high jewelry collection. I could not help but notice the garden-like atmosphere full of lush floral arrangements, each placed in vases curated on Lazowski’s travels to Seville, Vallauris, and Brazil.

When speaking to Lazowski about the ceramics on display throughout the store, I learned that her passion for collecting is what led her to offer her clients these pieces and other souvenirs such as candles from Murano, Italy and scarves from Kashmir alongside her signature jewels. I left with a personalized Marlo Laz “postcard” from the whimsical calligrapher Bernard Maisner. The space will continue to evolve, hosting pop-ups from emerging brands and offering a rotating selection of unique gifts and accessories throughout the year.
