Marks & Spencer is a master at jumping on trends quickly, ensuring we can shop them affordably while they're at their peak. So it's no surprise that the high street brand has been leaning heavily into polka dot, which is now rivalling leopard (M&S is onto that too) as the hottest print of the season.

First came the Julia-Roberts-style polka dot slip of dreams, which disappeared almost as soon as it hit the rails earlier this summer, quickly followed by an 'of the moment' polka dot ruffle dress. Then, a pretty polka dot tea dress with Rixo-esque lace trims caught our eyes, and now, there's a new kid on the polka dot block that we're adding straight to basket.

M&S' newest arrival ticks off two big trends in one: polka dots, and bows. It's a cute black and white mini dress with puff sleeves (also very now, led by Danish cool-girl brand Ganni) and three small bows running down the front. Though shorter in length, its shift shape makes it feel more grown-up and wearable. Style it with sandals while we're still in summer, before swapping in sheer black tights with Mary Janes or loafers when the mercury drops. Best of all? It's less than £40!

It's so sweet, so Sixties, and so worth snapping up immediately – especially as the polka dot trend has taken over A-list wardrobes. Sienna Miller gave us a masterclass in how to wear them at Wimbledon in July, as did Margot Robbie, Mollie King and even Princess Charlotte.

More into the bows? Don't miss M&S's new bow top – one to wear on its own now before layering over fine-knit polo necks come autumn. It comes in black or white and would look so cute with shorts or linen trousers on holiday.

Other stand-out M&S buys we've added straight to basket this summer include some go-with-everything sliders with major Hermès vibes; a tie-front top that all the cool girls have been wearing, including Radio 1 DJ Vick Hope; a ruffled swimsuit that nods to the boho revival; and some fisherman sandals that could easily be mistaken for The Row.
