Marks & Spencer's £45 leopard print heels are real cool-girl heroes
By now, you won't need us to tell you that leopard print is a key – if not the biggest – autumn/winter fashion trend to know. Inspired by the runways, from Versace to Celine, the high street is now flooded with leopard print clothing and accessories. There's an overwhelming amount of choice, but if you're looking to add just one piece to your capsule wardrobe, all the cool girls attending this month's Fashion Week shows have been wearing leopard print heels.
Perfect for adding just a pop of the wild side to your new-season looks, leopard print heels can instantly add some fashion-forward fun to an otherwise classic, neutral outfit. Try them with wide-leg trousers, a crisp white shirt and a blazer for the office, or with 'jeans and a nice top' for drinks with the girls. They really go with everything and anything – there's a reason why 'leopard is a neutral' is such a popular fashion girlie phrase – so you'll get a lot of wear out of your chosen pair.
The style du jour? Slingback kitten heels – as seen in Saint Laurent, Valentino and Gucci's SS24 shows – for when you fancy a bit of feminine lift while still feeling comfortable. Bonus points if they have elegant pointed toes – the shape fashion editors and influencers are favouring this year.
If you'd prefer more height, go for it – you'll find plenty of higher leopard print heels on the shelves – but opt for a slimmer heel to keep things feeling chicer.
However you choose to wear this micro trend, we're enjoying seeing a more playful shoe taking the spotlight after such a long reign by demure ballet flats and more masculine loafers.
Sold on introducing some leopard print flair into your styling repertoire? There are some great options currently in the shops, with Marks & Spencer in particular leaning heavily into the trend. The high-street giant's puff-sleeved leopard print dress with Ganni vibes flew off the shelves as soon as it dropped last month, and now we're eyeing up its new £45 leopard print heels with their sweet statement bows and elevated satin finish.
If you've got a designer budget, or are shopping for a special occasion, Red's fashion assistant Angel Cordova-Todd has an Aquazzura pair of leopard print kitten heels on her next big birthday wish list, which she shared in a recent edition of our VIP newsletter, Love Red.
'I’ve been catapulted into a love of leopard print shoes,' she said. 'I firmly believe that leopard is a neutral and will go the distance, especially during those moments when I’m stuck at the hallway mirror thinking my outfit needs ‘a little something’.'
