In a UK high street first, Marks & Spencer has announced it is now selling one of France's most famous gourmet frozen food brands, Picard.

According to M&S, the Food Hall has seen sales for frozen food soar throughout the UK lockdown, up by 85% compared to last year.

M&S is hoping by introducing this popular French brand to its offering, it can raise the frozen food bar and bring customers high-quality frozen goods.

Picard has been selling frozen goods to those in France since the 1970s, from delicious canapés to desserts.

And while you might not be able to travel to France this year for your French food fix, you'll now be able to get a taste of the cuisine via M&S from today (15 July).

The M&S Food Hall will stock 25 specially selected products from Picard, to bring customers a taste of iconic French meals, sides, canapés, desserts and bakery treats.

Speaking about the launch of Picard to the Food Hall, M&S Director of Product Development April Preston said: "For French foodies, Picard is so much more than frozen food, it’s known for exceptionally delicious dishes that taste so good you would never believe they weren’t homemade. This range is the crème de la crème of French food, and for me, the Tarte Tatin is the real superstar! Offering our customers delicious food and inspiring choice is at the heart of what we do and Picard is a great addition to our frozen range, perfectly complementing our existing offer and giving customers something deliciously different."

April added: "We’ve loved working with Picard – they have incredible experience and an amazing range of products. Like M&S, Picard holds long standing relationships with local farmers and they source the very best ingredients. We’ve closely worked with Picard to select an edited range of their iconic French products based on what we know our customers love."

We can't wait to try it!
