22-year-old man's youthful mum, who is in her 40s, is often mistaken for his girlfriend

No matter how cringe-worthy, nothing will make your mum smile more than when she’s asked if she’s your sister.

But for one mother-son duo, things can get a little embarrassing when she’s mistaken for being much younger than she is.

Jonathan Nguyen, 22, always draws attention when out with his mum - as onlookers always presume that she’s his girlfriend.

Though it comes as no surprise, as his 40-something mother looks incredible.

“Having a young Asian mum is great until you see someone your age shooting their shot at her,’ Jonathan wrote in Australian Facebook group Subtle Asian Traits.

The post soon garnered more than 14,000 likes and 7,400 comments with social media users desperate to know the secret behind her youthful appearance.

“Woah. She's beautiful. Thought she was your girlfriend. Said to myself ‘what a beautiful couple’,” one wrote.

Another added: “Hopefully I look that good when I'm her age.”

While a third asked what we’ve all been thinking, “Your mum looks like your sister, what's her secret?”

Thankfully, Nguyen has revealed some of his mother’s tips to staying youthful.

“To cut to the chase my mum is in her 40s. Her secret to not ageing is dieting and exercising. She also has a skin care routine that I'm not too aware of,” Nguyen told Daily Mail Australia. “She works out everyday, and won't eat any processed foods for the most part. (Keto diet).”

But he refuses to spill the details on her top-secret beauty regime, so we’ll have to make do with drinking plenty of water and trialling the whole ‘no McDonald’s’ thing until then.
