Former child star Frankie Muniz is looking very much the family man, 18 years since starring in hit TV show Malcolm in the Middle.

The star of the show, which ran from 2000 to 2006, recently attended the Wildlife Warriors' Steve Irwin Gala at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas with his wife Paige and his three year old son Mauz, who was making his red carpet debut.

Frankie held his son’s hand as they walked into the event, with Mauz wearing a black suit and gold bow tie while his dad wore a beige jacket with black tie to complement his son.

Frankie – whose full name is Francisco Muniz IV – is now 38 years old and has been working as an actor since he was 12. He started by appearing in commercials before winning the part of Malcolm, the child prodigy raised by parents Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) and Hal (Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston) along with his three brothers Francis, Reese and Dewey (a fourth brother, Jamie, was added to the family in season four). The series ran for more than 150 episodes and became an international success.

Since the show ended in 2006, Frankie has continued to act in series including Arrested Development, Criminal Minds and The Rookie. He also starred in movies such as the Agent Cody Banks films, and provided voices for characters on The Simpsons, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Harley Quinn. He is also a keen racing driver, having competed driving stock cars in the past and he currently races for the NASCAR Xfinity series.

More recently Frankie competed in the 25th season of Dancing with the Stars, where he finished third with professional dance partner Witney Carson, beating celebrities including singer Debbie Gibson, boy band member Nick Lachey and former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens.

He also went out to South Africa to appear in the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here earlier this year. Hosted by comedian Julia Morris and Robert Irwin, the conservationist son of the late Steve Irwin, the series began filming on March 24 and featured celebrities including Frankie, comedian Stephen K Amos and paralympic swimmer Ellie Cole living out in the wild in Kruger National Park. Unfortunately, Frankie left the jungle after three weeks due to personal reasons, as he was missing his family.

“I had no idea what to expect coming in here,” he said to the I’m A Celeb cameras as he asked to leave. “The weird part is, I’m not an emotional person because I’ve been so busy, I’m almost numb. But I’ve felt so many incredible feelings here with you guys.”

“My current situation with my wife and son is… I’m guilty of not noticing what they do for me. Hearing my wife say that my son is sad that I don’t play trucks with him, I realise I’ve been home so many days, and when I’m home I’m not present. And I’m so ready to be present.”
