"You're not the boss of me now and you're not so big..."

Today marks 17 years since Malcolm in the Middle first landed on our screens.

But what do the cast of the hit Fox sitcom look like a decade later? And what have they been up to? Some may surprise you...

1. FRANKIE MUNIZ (Malcolm)

Frankie was dubbed "one of Hollywood's most bankable teens" in 2003 by CBS News, but his career hasn't quite gone the route many expected after Malcolm said goodbye.

Aside from leading the James Bond-for-teens Agent Cody Banks film series and a load of small roles and cameos, he has yet to star in a project anywhere as big as MITM. That being said, he did appear in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! last year, so there's that.

He put his acting career on hold to become an open wheel racing driver in the noughties, and was no slouch behind the wheel in the events he took part in. He has also suffered from health issues, and had a 'mini-stroke' in late 2012, followed by a second a year later.

2. ERIK PER SULLIVAN (Dewey)

Dewey is now 24, which is frankly ridiculous. Don't let his gawky exterior fool you though, he has a black belt in taekwondo.

While he appeared in a number of films and TV shows during MITM's run, he appears to have left the acting world behind since 2010. He graduated from the University of Southern California the same year.

3. JUSTIN BERFIELD (Reese)

Did you know that Justin was actually younger than Frankie Muniz, despite playing his older brother in the show? You do now.

Like his aforementioned TV bros, Justin has largely quit the acting world, and hasn't acted since the show ended aside from a couple of TV movies. Since 2010, he has been the Chief Creative Officer of Virgin Produced, a film and TV production company in LA.

4. CHRISTOPHER MASTERSON (Francis)

Nope, Francis didn't go on to star as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother. This Neil Patrick Harris lookalike has continued to act, appearing in various TV episodes and indie movies including Haven and White Collar.

His brother is That '70s Show star Danny Masterson, while his half-sister is Alanna Masterson, who currently plays Tara in The Walking Dead. He and all his siblings are followers of Scientology.

5. CRAIG LAMAR TRAYLOR (Stevie)

Stevie managed to make asthma funny, which is no easy feat. But since Malcolm in the Middle, actor Craig has had quite the transformation – just check his Twitter page for more examples.

He's only had a couple of acting roles since the show ended, and he's now an aspiring model, tattoo artist and writer.

6. BRYAN CRANSTON (Hal)

Go on, admit it. While watching Malcolm in the Middle, did you ever think the guy played sad sack dad Hal would go on to be one of the world's most well-respected and celebrated actors? Cranston has defied expectations thanks to his career defining role of Walter White in Breaking Bad, which launched two years after MITM ended.

He has since won several Emmys, Screen Actors Guild awards, a Golden Globe and a Tony Award, and was nominated for an Oscar for Trumbo this year. Quite the turnaround for Hal. He even spoofed this transformation with an "alternate ending" from Breaking Bad.

Other notable roles include Drive, Total Recall, Rock of Ages, Argo, Godzilla and Kung Fu Panda 3, and he will soon star in Brad Furman's crime drama The Infiltrator.

7. JANE KACZMAREK (Lois)

In a show full of boys, it was really all about the matriarch Lois. Jane won many plaudits for the role including SEVEN Emmy and three Golden Globe nominations (but no win, for shame).

Since the show ended she has had various guest appearances on big shows including The Big Bang Theory and The Middle, and she also voices the stern judge Constance Harm in The Simpsons.

She was also previously married to The West Wing star Bradley Whitford for nearly 17 years before their divorce in 2009.

Now let's reminisce with the brilliant intro from They Might Be Giants:
