Maisie Smith vows to spend Christmas with boyfriend Max George amid his hospital stay
Maisie Smith has spoken out about her boyfriend Max George following his heart operation - where he had a pacemaker fitted - sharing that the couple will spend Christmas Day together no matter what. Max has been spending time in hospital in Manchester after a CT scan revealed a blockage was disrupting electrical signals in his heart.
And while Maisie is over 250 miles away in Canterbury, Kent, where she is currently starring in Beauty And The Beast at Marlowe Theatre, the former EastEnders actress has vowed to be with her boyfriend this Christmas Day. She told The Sun: "We’re still talking everyday and FaceTiming. I’m still trying to be there as much as I can be. I’ve got Christmas day off, so I’ll be going to see him. We’re not 100 per cent sure where he’ll be spending Christmas at this point in time, but whatever happens we’ll be together.”
Maisie has been visiting Max when she can get away from work, and added that the former The Wanted singer is feeling happier. She continued: "He seems in happier spirits. It was lovely to see him because we’re quite far away from each other, so it was lovely to see him and his family.”

Strictly Come Dancing stars Maisie and Max met on the BBC show in 2020 and began a relationship two years later, going strong ever since.. Despite their 13-year age gap, the couple has consistently maintained that it's not an issue for them.
And while they haven't been able to spend every day together currently, Max has spoken on Instagram about the support of Maisie and her family throughout this difficult time for his health. "I’m surrounded with love and support from my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place," he explained earlier this month.
Max has been updating his 384K Instagram followers on his health, after he was taken to hospital in early December when he felt 'really unwell', which is when doctors found issues with his heart.
In the most recent update, Max detailed his operation to have a pacemaker fitted - an electronic device that helps regulate the heart's rhythm. Describing the device as the 'best Christmas present' as he hopes to be on the road to recovery, Max shared: "Say hello to my little friend! Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for.
"Pacemaker is in. Operation took around 2 and half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them.
The surgeon kindly put my pacemaker just underneath a very special tattoo of mine.. So I’m sure it’s being looked after. Few more tests to do due to inflamed lymph nodes on my lungs, but that’ll be easy work! Time to rest and then tackle life full on once again." Accompanied by a picture of his chest, showing the operation scar, Max signed off: "Thank you for all your support. It’s meant a hell of a lot to myself and my family."
