Married At First Sight UK star Sacha Jones has opened up about losing ‘the best thing that ever happened to her,’ her beloved white cat, Diego. The star, who married Ross McCarthy on the show, revealed that her beloved cat passed away in the early hours of this morning after being ill for some time.

Sacha revealed Diego was due for scans before his passing and shared that she wished she had pushed for them sooner. In an Instagram post, paying tribute to her pet with a number of pictures and videos, the 29-year-old penned: “At 3am this morning I lost the best thing that ever happened to me.”

“He was due in for scans and tests today as he’s been ill for awhile and tried various different meds but now I will never fully know why he passed," she wrote. Yesterday they just put him on fluids then at 1am I heard him scream out in agony. I took him emergency vet but there wasn’t much they could do so I brought him home and he took his final breath in my arms. You once saved my life Diego, i’m so sorry I couldn’t save yours.”

Sacha then shared her regret for leaving Diego for a few days while she was away." I just thought you’d be fine at your nanny and grandad’s and vet’s didn’t seem too concerned. I feel like it’s all my fault. You’d just started your little weight loss journey too when all this started to happen."

The reality star then questioned how she was going to deal with the pain, revealing she hasn’t left her bed and can’t stop ‘screaming and crying’.

“You’re the love of my life Diego. I’m so so sorry. Mommy loves you so much,” she concluded the emotional caption. Fans took to the comments to send their condolences to the star, who rose to fame earlier this year on the E4 show, as one wrote: "So sorry to hear this, thinking of you."

Sacha and Ross seemed to be going strong throughout most of the series, however, hit a few bumps in the road when deciding where to live after the experiment. Although they decided to continue their relationship off camera, and Ross moved to Walsall with Sacha and her beloved cats. However, the couple called it quits soon after.

Speaking to OK! about their relationship outside of the show, Sacha said: “When I think of my time with Ross after the show, it’s just dark. Dark. I can’t think of one happy memory after the show. It was awful. The last happy memory I have is going to the first reunion together and putting on a strong front.” She then revealed the relationship ended with one ‘brutal text’ from him back in June.
