I’m A Celeb’s Dean lets slip on secret crew on hand 24/7 to save campmates
Radio DJ Dean McCullough has revealed the secret I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! crew members who are always on standby to prevent campmates from getting into sticky situations. During his appearance on the show's spin-off, Unpacked, he responded to a viewer's question about whether there are rangers in the camp to deal with unwanted creatures.
Dean revealed: "They are worth their weight in gold." He went on to share a story about how one of these staff members saved him from walking into a still-hot campfire in the dark, saying: "This random arm - big, beefy, Australian arm - just appeared from the darkness and he pulled me and just walked me up to the dunny."
The next day, Dean realised it was one of the crew members who had come to his rescue. "I said ‘let me see your arm’ and he showed me and I was like, ‘it was you, you rescued me from the fire’. They’re watching everything. If there’s a spider in the dunny, they’re right in there."

On Sunday night, Dean became the second celebrity to be voted out of I’m A Celebrity and speaking about his jungle exit on ITV's Good Morning Britain, Dean said: “It feels great, I’m in a five star resort on the Gold Coast. It’s great, I feel like a winner, I feel like a competition winner, but I feel like a winner!”
During his time in the jungle, Dean was nominated for seven trials, which host Susanna Reid pointed out was more than Matt Hancock when he was in the show in 2022. This led Dean to joke, “Oh God, don't make that comparison!”
On the trials, and whether he learned to love them, Dean said: “I wouldn't say love but you do actually get used to the tension. What you don't see on telly is that it's very quiet, it's all taken very, very seriously and there's so many rules that you've got to remember and it's tense.
“I was the first one to get out and repeat these trials so over the week I actually got used to it. Now the sand one, I could not have predicted that that was going to happen. All I was told was to stand in the box with my hands on the perspex and I might be joined by things in the tomb, so yeah, I wasn't expecting that at all. But I would actually do it again, I would give it a go… Like anything you just keep doing it you get used to it, but I don't think I would say I loved the trials.”
Dean also revealed that he got a ‘proper telling off' from Ant McPartlin over his effort in some of the trials. He said: “Yeah, I mean when Ant was telling me off for saying 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! it felt like a proper telling off and I felt like he meant it. So I did what I was told and I wanted to win him back around which I think I did in the end."
Dean smuggled tea bags into the jungle and opening up on the rule break, Dean said: “I didn’t think it would blow up as much as it did, but it was so worth it, you can’t beat a good cup of tea first thing in the morning!"
