We love Tom Daley's latest knitting project – a stylish heart-shaped vest

We can't wait to watch diver Tom Daley in the Olympics this summer – but did you know he's also a seriously talented knitter and crocheter, too?

Tom regularly impresses us with his fab knitting skills, including making this stylish heart-shaped vest.

The podcast presenter took to his Made With Love Instagram page to share his latest brilliant knitting project. He posted a video of himself wearing the knight-inspired heart-shaped knitted vest, made in a grey yarn, and talked through the stitches he used.

Tom had showed fans the vest before, in another video on Instagram in which he rounded up his five favourite recent knitting projects.

In the video posted about the grey vest, Tom says: "It was the knight heart vest, because as you can see it looks like a heart on the front and a little bit on the back."

Tom knitted the vest using stocking stitch, also known as stockinette stitch. He created two panels for the front and back, both shaped like a heart, and attached them together with knitted strips in a tabard style.

He explained a bit about how he knitted the vest, saying: "Essentially I ran out of yarn, which is why it looks like this, instead of it being a bit more put together. But at the same time, I kind of like it."

Fans were quick to share how much they loved Tom's latest idea, with @tylerseal commenting: "Love this" and @doblede_ebista commenting: "Love that sweater".

A knitted vest like Tom's is such a fun project for improver knitters, who have learned the basics of how to knit. We have lots of stylish free vest knitting patterns – or if you'd prefer to make one like Tom's, check out our step-by-step video tutorial on how to knit stocking stitch.
