Sara Davies shares stylish découpage trinket shellNicky Johnston - Hearst Owned

Sara Davies is the queen of crafting – and we love the beautiful and simple craft projects she makes for her home. Her latest creation is no exception: a stylish découpage shell, perfect to keep her jewellery in.

The Ultimate Wedding Planner judge took to her Instagram to share her latest project – she posted a video of herself making the découpage trinket tray and popping her jewellery in it for safe keeping.

Alongside the video, Sara wrote: "I’ve seen loads of these style of trinket holders available for sale on Etsy and honestly they go for a fortune - but i figured I could make them myself and it was soooooo easy!

"It’s also a great craft you could do with the kids over the summer – and the principle works with anything (I just found a large shell was perfect size)".

In the video, Sara covers a large craft shell in Mod Podge glue, before sticking decoupage paper over the top and cutting it to size. She sealed it with more glue and edged the shell with gold pen.

The craft technique Sara used is called découpage – it's the process of sticking decorated tissue-like paper onto objects, including shells, wood, paper and much more. If you'd like to learn more about decoupage, find out all you need to know with our beginner's guide.

Fans were quick to tell Sara how much they loved her latest project, with @todothandcrafted commenting "Lovely!" and @woodenyoulove1 commenting "That looks gorgeous and so simple to make".

If you'd like to make a trinket shell like Sara's, you can pick up artificial shells from online retailers like Amazon, along with the Mod Podge glue that Sara used.

These shells make such a lovely gift for a friend – or keep them for your own dressing table. We can't wait to see what Sara makes next!
