Love Island fans gobsmacked over 'biggest plot twist ever' as fans point out 'finalists'

Love Island fans were left gobsmacked as Towie's Joey Essex didn't make a move on any of the six stunning new bombshells during the dramatic Casa Amor shake-up.

The original female islanders had been spirited away to the notorious Casa Amor villa last week, where they met a group of strapping new lads. Back at the main villa, the boys were treated to the arrival of six new single ladies ready to stir things up.

But in Wednesday night's episode (July 3), it was time for the islanders to decide whether to stick or twist in a tense recoupling, signalling the end of Casa Amor for this year. Yet, amidst all the drama, viewers were fixated on Joey - who has remained surprisingly tame since the girls departed for Casa.

Joey's journey in the villa has seen him entangled in several love triangles after arriving as a bombshell in the first week. Even with the introduction of Emma Milton - an acquaintance from outside the villa - Joey stayed loyal.

Fresh from his recent coupling with Jessy, following a split from Grace who had previously snatched him from Samantha, the audience was stunned that none of the new girls managed to entangle themselves in Joey's complicated love life. Fans took to social media, now known as X, to express their disbelief, reports the Mirror.

A fan exclaimed on social media: "Joey Essex has not played away in Casa Amor despite disrespecting Grace and Samantha for 4 weeks beforehand. BIGGEST PLOT TWIST EVER!".

Another chimed in with: "Joey and Jessy are dark horses, their reunion will make them likeable. Guaranteed finalists." A third fan pointed out: "Joey's not slick either. He knows he's not popular with the public so now he's being a good boy to get on y'all better side. Don't fall for it."

Meanwhile, another was taken aback, commenting: "That fact that Joey Essex is more loyal than the majority of the boys says a lot."

Elsewhere, a viewer speculated about the upcoming drama, writing: "Enjoy the recoupling while it lasts because we are gonna have to sit through Mimii crying blood for the next five weeks, Sean and Wil cooking up some terrible apology poems and a Joey redemption arc just for Nicole and Ciaran to win at the end."

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
