Lorraine Kelly hit with 'awful' hay fever for first time

Hay fever season is in full swing - and it's even causing issues for those who have never suffered before.

This includes TV presenter Lorraine Kelly and Scott Mills, who are each struggling with new symptoms.

Lorraine, 64, has "never had hay fever" up until this year and branded her symptoms "awful". She spoke about the common allergy on her ITV chat show, Lorraine, on Thursday while interviewing EastEnders icon Natalie Cassidy, 41, who is famed for portraying Sonia Fowler in the hit BBC One soap.

"You know you were talking earlier about your hay fever. I've never had hay fever, not really. I mean, maybe a wee touch. See, this year, it's blinking awful isn't it?" Lorraine told Natalie.

The actress added: "And you've never had it before?" to which Lorraine responded: "No, not properly. I might have a wee sniffle, but this is like proper full on."

Natalie admitted her symptoms are "absolutely horrendous" and she's taking medication regularly to manage them. She said: "It is absolutely horrendous. I shower in the morning, I shower at night, I have to take two tablets a day. Nasal sprays, eye drops, the lot."

Lorraine went on to joke: "And we're not even getting the benefit of the sunshine! You know how when you've got hay fever and you think 'well, at least it's sunny'."

It comes after Lorraine paid tribute to her daughter Rosie on her milestone 30th birthday. The TV star gushed over her daughter, saying she is "so proud" of her.

"Happy Birthday to my beautiful, kind, lovely girl - can’t believe you came into the world THIRTY years ago - and you will soon be a mum yourself. So proud of you @rosiekellysmith #happybirthday #love #proud," Lorraine penned alongside a selfie of Rosie on Instagram.

Rosie, who Lorraine shares with husband Steve Smith, announced earlier this year that she was expecting her first child with her partner Steve White, much to Lorraine's excitement. She has since revealed she is having a baby girl, having shared clips of a gender reveal on Instagram.

Mum-of-one Lorraine has made no secret of her excitement to be a grandmother and has spoken openly about Rosie's pregnancy on the ITV show on a number of occasions since the announcement. In May, Lorraine gushed that she's "never seen" her daughter look "so beautiful" as she reached six months pregnant.
