Lorraine Kelly is feeling ‘lucky’ after welcoming first grandchild and winning a BAFTA in 2024 memory post
ITV’s Lorraine Kelly has taken a look back over the year and said she’s feeling ‘very very lucky’ as she looks back over 2024 milestones. Alongside a sweet photo of herself and her first grandchild, Billie, Lorraine wrote a very lengthy post about everything she achieved from writing a novel to winning a BAFTA.
The star wrote: “Well what a year it has been. Feeling very very lucky [love heart emoji]. Obviously the most amazing thing was baby Billie coming into the world on August 29th. She’s such an angel and Rosie and her Steve are brilliant parents. Being a granny is just pure joy.”
Lorraine continued: “The year kicked off back in January when I was on The Masked Singer as a very out of tune owl - it was great such great fun! My first novel “The Island Swimmer” was published in February and made number 2 on the Sunday Times Best Seller List which I really didn’t expect! I was honoured to be given a special BAFTA award for being on breakfast for 40 years. As if all that wasn’t enough I had my portrait painted by Brogan Bertie (sky arts portrait artist of the year) and it’s hanging in the Scottish Portrait Gallery.

“There was even a documentary of my life on ITV which I can show to Billie when she’s older. My show had so many memorable moments - I officiated at the blessing of viewers Luke and Gavin to mark ten years of gay marriage.”
Lorraine also mentioned performing at the Albert Hall for the Royal Variety Show and praised the ‘best team on TV’ which she said she was very ‘lucky’ to work with and also added that she has ‘exciting plans’ for 2025.
In the same post, Lorraine added some not so happy events including the deaths of three family members, her brother-in-law as well as her two uncles. She also wrote: “But my mum continues to defy the odds and is doing well. Being a great-grandmother has given her a new lease of life. So 2024 was a year I will never forget. I wish all of you a happy Hogmanay and all the best for 2025.”
Lorraine’s fellow ITV colleague Cat Deeley commented on the post writing: “The look of love”. Doctor Amir Khan said: “Happy new year lorraine - love to you ad your family”. Mark Heyes who also works with Lorraine commented: “She’s just beautiful xxx”.
