Loose Women viewers gobsmacked after host makes toe-curling blunder during live show

Loose Women viewers were left gobsmacked after one host made a toe-curling blunder live on air. During Thursday, 2 January’s show, the Loose Women panel were joined by Coronation Street legend Simon Gregson as he opened up about his 20-year battle with anxiety, including how he almost didn't go on the show after suffering a panic attack shortly beforehand.

However, following the candid conversation with Simon, fans were left in disbelief after host Sunetra Sarker made a huge gaffe as she introduced the next segment. As she segued into a discussion revolving around Robbie Williams’ new biopic Better Man, the actress teased that she had an “important question” for the soap star.

“Simon, before you go, we have one very important question that we need to ask you,” she said. “It’s so important, honestly, you might have a panic attack it's so important. “

In response to her comments, viewers at home took to X to express their disbelief over the transition. “Did Sunetra really just say that to Steve!? #loosewomen,” wrote one. “The host making fun of a panic attack #LooseWomen,” another added.

Meanwhile, a third wrote: “‘You might have a panic attack’. Did she really just say that to Simon Gregson after he opened up about having one before the show?”

Prior to Sunetra’s comments, Simon, who is best known for playing Weatherfield’s Steve McDonald, bravely discussed his experience with anxiety. “It all came to a head in 2015, I kept having anxiety attacks, panic attacks,” he told the Loose Women panel. “Which is so bizarre because I've been having them all day today. I was like, ‘there's no way I can go on.’

“It just hits you like a tonne of bricks and makes you completely incapacitated. I've been having them since 1990 but I just got on with it.”

After years of suffering in silence, Simon, 50, decided to take action after noticing that his children were experiencing similar. “When I had children and they were noticing it and they were getting anxious, I thought, 'I've passed it on. It's like a cold - I've given it to them,” he added.

Back in 2013, the TV star spoke to Cheshire Life about his anxiety, in which he admitted: “I was always really anxious growing up, worrying about what people thought of me. There were also times of depression.

“You can’t keep brushing stuff under the carpet when your kids start to notice things. I saw a psychiatrist and he said I’d had anxiety for more than 20 years.”
