Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha has clapped back at her critics. As a staple on the ITV daytime show for a quarter of a century, Nadia, 59, is well aware that she may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Opening up to Bella magazine, the one-time Celebrity Masterchef winner said: "With a big audience, you've got to accept that some of them aren't going to like you. It doesn't bother me, I just do what feels right."

She continued: "I never wanted to be vanilla. I've never wanted everybody to like me because I'm made up of lots of different things."

Nadia also reminisced about the early days of the show when fellow presenter Kaye Adams questioned the show's potential longevity by asking: "How long does a woman have a conversation with her friends?"

Looking back at their debut, Nadia resonated with Kaye's point, but she thinks that Loose Women hits its stride when the panellists share their own personal stories and experiences, offering more than just news, reports the Express.

Mum of two Nadia said: "We're at our best on Loose Women when we take a story and put it through our own lives. How do we feel about stuff rather than simply reporting on it. I personally like it best when we're having a lot of fun as well. I love it when we're having a bit of silliness - those are my favourite shows."

It comes after Denise Welch furiously shut down claims Loose Women is 'all about her', telling those who criticise her appearances on the show to "shut up".

Denise, 66, is known for being outspoken on Loose Women and regularly ends up involved in clashes with her co-stars as well as guests on the daytime show. Her opinions and views have seen her become the subject of criticism from viewers, who have complained she speaks about herself too much while on the panel.

However, Denise has claimed the "whole point" of Loose Women is for the panellists to talk about themselves and give their opinion on topics. She also said it "takes experience" to become a good panellist.

Speaking to Caroline Hiron’s podcast, Glad We Had This Chat, Denise said: "You know you get Doris from Darlington on Twitter and they say, ‘Ugh it’s the Nadia [Sawalha] and Denise show, it’s not about you, you know!'

"And it’s like, it is though Doris, that’s actually the whole point. It is an opinion and anecdotally-led show so it is actually about us, Doris. So shut the f*** up. It takes experience to be a good panellist."

She also said it "drives her mad" that she now has to "self-edit" due to living in a "very PC world". She said she has to be "be careful" to avoid offended someone.
