The most spectacular Christmas trees and displays to be found in London this year
Every Christmas, London's finest hotels, restaurants, department stores and landmark locations compete for the most spectacular festive displays. In fact, there's no better way to get into the holiday spirit than by strolling through the UK's capital and taking in the twinkling lights.
From Chanel's Bond Street takeover to The Connaught's glowing Nordmann Fir and Annabel's impressive snow globe façade, these are our favourite Christmas displays to be found in London this season.
Bond Street
Visitors to Bond Street this Christmas will be welcomed by a particularly stylish sight: the Chanel N°5 illuminations – a celebration of beauty and the iconic fragrance bottle, and a reflection of the famed street’s entwined heritage with the luxury house. The twinkling installation is part of a collaboration between Chanel Fragrance & Beauty and the New West End Company.
Annabel's
Every year the private members club Annabel's unveils an impressive holiday façade, and 2024's is no exception. Created in partnership with The Caring Family Foundation, the display takes the form of a grand snow globe constructed over the club's main entrance, with a magical bird in its centre.
The Connaught
The Connaught's glowing creation was designed by the influential British artist Conrad Shawcross RA, who is known for incorporating mathematical ideas and geometrical patterns within his designs. The nine-metre Nordmann Fir, sourced from Denmark, is bedecked with 90 bespoke lanterns, each made from aluminium and hand-painted in silver.
Selfridges
Selfridges has teamed up with the sculptor and jewellery designer Andrew Logan to create its festive windows, each a maximalist, sparkling grotto filled with texture, colour and some of his smaller, mirrored artworks. His larger-scale sculptures can also be seen at the Art Block, Selfridges' permanent exhibition space in the Accessories Hall.
The Londoner
The Londoner's bow-festooned display comes courtesy of the British designer Kate Halfpenny, who is known for her romantic wedding dresses. Both brands worked collaboratively to ensure a commitment to sustainability and conscious design throughout the process and the tree, which takes centre stage in the hotel’s lobby, is adorned with oversized decorations crafted from repurposed bridal fabric offcuts.
