LFW SS16 Beauty Trends So Far

London Fashion Week SS16 is in full swing, bringing us the trends for Spring Summer 2016.

One of the most prominent themes from the catwalk, as we’ve witnessed it, is the attention to clean, fresh skin and natural lips, whilst drawing attention to the eyes with statement colours.

At Holly Fulton’s show, skin was kept fresh and clean, with summer colours such as greens and oranges applied generously to the lid.

Lips were kept as natural as possible with no particularly noticeable addition of colour – just a touch of clear balm.

You can recreate this look at home by applying a bright eye shadow such as MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Humid (£13.00) over the lid and grounding the look with your favourite eye liner and lashings of your favourite mascara

Over at PPQ the focus was kept the same.

Skin was fresh and flawless, with minimal products and no blush, with the eyes making the statement using heavy smudged liner.

This is a perfect alternative to wearing a smokey eye, if you want to avoid big panda eyes.

Apply a kohl liner such as H&M Eyeliner in Panther (£3.99) to your lid and lower lash line and blend out gently.

Vinti Andrews followed suit, but instead of bold colours, models wore pink flirty glitter eye-liner on the lower lash line, complemented with touselled, care-free locks.

To achieve this hair look, apply Batiste Dry Shampoo (£2.99) towards the ends of your hair and use your hand to scruff up your locks to create an effortless flirty hairstyle.

To create a fresh faced look, as worn by the models at the Markus Lupfer show, avoid foundation altogether. Take a concealer such as the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer (£19.00) and apply small amount to blemishes or areas of discolouration, then blend out well with a small make-up brush or a cotton bud.

Using this method will help you to achieve a natural fresh-faced look without having to apply too much product to your face. Finish the look off with a finishing spray like MAC Cosmetic Prep + Prime Fix + Spray (£17.00) to create a more dewy finish which will compliment your fresh face look.

Sibling London kept in line with the trend but took a different approach to statement eyes by providing models with dramatic winged lashes.

The winged lashes gave the models a full-on cat eye without the use of liner which is a great tip if you’re a cat eye novice.

Pick up a pair of Eyelure London Definition Lashes in 121 (£5.65) to create a more wearable cat eye for a night out.

Julien Macdonald tweaked the trend for his show. Models were kept fresh faced but bronzed with spray tans before the show to convey his inspiration from a recent holiday.

Eyes were super dramatic, with copious amounts of black eye shadow applied to the lower and upper lash line.

To recreate this look apply a black base to your lid, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean (£3.50) is a good base to use, then apply a matte black eye shadow such as Inglot Freedom System Eye Shadow in 391 (£5.00) over this and blend out well.

Finish with a black liner on the water line and your favourite falsies.

Are you loving the fresh face and statement eyes look? Is this something you would wear out?
