“Feeling very grateful after a dash to a&e last night,” Laura wrote as she revealed that Bonnie had experienced a febrile seizure, which are also known as febrile convulsions. “Luckily enough I knew what a febrile convulsion was from being crew but oh my goodness it’s a different story when it’s your child and you have to drive to the hospital yourself,” she added.

“Also hats off to all the parents dealing severaly sick children and to the strength these children have, I do not know how you cope. You can let me know if you want me to explain what happened as it’s not really what I thought xx.”

According to the NHS, a febrile seizure can sometimes occur when a child has a high temperature. While it can be frightening, it isn’t usually serious, though it’s important to seek medical attention if a child experiences a seizure.

Febrile seizures can last between two to three minutes and may cause a child to become unconscious, stiff, twitch or have jerky movements. It may also cause them to become sleepy, irritable or confused.
