Linda Cardellini at the Oscars 2019

The “Green Book” star vamped it up on the red carpet in a bright pink gown that was anything but subtle. But it wasn’t a hit with everyone. Some compared Cardellini to Elmo or Big Bird’s red-headed sister, and one even said the 43-year-old looked like she had raided someone’s craft cupboard for the ensemble. [Photo: Getty]

The “Crazy Rich Asians” star looked fashion forward in a bright pink ruffled gown (with pockets) by Valentino. A catwalk-fresh look, we should add, that literally made Celine Dion cry with joy during Haute Couture Fashion Week last month. [Photo: Getty]

Julia Roberts might have been a late arrival (she turned up at the end of the night, to present the Best Picture accolade), but she made sure she was wearing the colour of the night. [Photo: Getty]

We don’t know if it was the frothy, pink tulle Molly Goddard dress Villanelle wore in ‘Killing Eve‘ that inspired it, but pink was certainly the colour du jour at the Oscars 2019.

Linda Cardellini, star of ‘Green Book’ went all in and rocked up on the red carpet wearing one of the frothiest gowns we’ve ever clapped eyes on. While some applauded the look, others likened the former ‘Scooby Doo’ star to a Muppet.

Fashion-forward Brit Gemma Chan opted for a look just as extravagant: a tiered, voluminous dress by Valentino. The very same look that caused Celine Dion to shed a tear of joy during Haute Couture Fashion Week.

Angela Bassett put her own spin on the micro trend, wearing a dramatic, sweeping look in the fuchsia hue.

But it was Julia Roberts, pretty in pink, who left fans giddy. Popping up at the prestigious awards at the last minute to present the Best Picture accolade, the Oscar-winner ensured she was on trend in a a one-shoulder, ruffled affair.
