The start date of the new series of The Great British Sewing Bee has been announced, and we can't wait. There's more exciting news from our favourite sewing programme – the new series will feature a new presenter.

The Great British Sewing Bee had announced on Instagram that a new presenter would be taking over from Sara Pascoe for the Christmas special and series 10.

Actor Kiell Smith-Bynoe has taken up the job of Sewing Bee presenter, and will be joining judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young in the new series, starting on Tuesday 21 May at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Who is Kiell Smith-Bynoe?

Kiell Smith-Bynoe is a British actor, perhaps most famous for playing Mike Cooper in BBC sitcom Ghosts.

He has also appeared in other TV comedies including Stath Lets Flats, Man Like Mobeen and Enterprice.

Kiell was a contestant in the 2021 Christmas special of The Great British Sewing Bee, alongside Rev Kate Bottley, Antony Cotton, Anneka Rice, Lawrence Chaney, Rose Matafeo, Claire Richards and Kirsty Wark.

The news that Kiell will be taking over presenting duties was shared on the Sewing Bee Instagram page in a photo of the new presenter with judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant.

Alongside the photo, the caption read: "We're bursting at the seams that Kiell Smith-Bynoe has stepped in to host this year’s Christmas Special and Series 10.⁣"

Judge Patrick shared the photo on his Instagram, too, with the caption: "We got a new chum! The brilliantly hilarious KS-B, comin atcha for Series 10 (yes its true!) and this year's super lolz Christmas spesh. Enjoy."

Fans of the show are delighted to see Kiell join the Sewing Bee family. @mrs_j_mcgahey commented: "This will be amazing. Sewing Bee have a way of putting together the most excellent judges & presenters", while @minervadotcom commented: "How exciting. Can't wait to see the new team in action".

We can't wait to see Kiell on our screens! We loved him in the Christmas special and can't wait to watch him in series 10 of the show.
