Kerry Katona has opened up about leaving her lavish £2million Cheshire pad, explaining it's simply "too big" for her needs now.

The celebrity mum, who moved into the grand home in 2021, confessed that it's become a bit too much to handle since some of her children have flown the nest. With downsizing on her mind, Kerry and her partner Ryan Mahoney considered a sun-soaked life in Marbella, Spain, but chose to remain in Britain for the sake of her nine year old daughter DJ's schooling.

Taking to Instagram, the 43 year old singer and reality TV personality shared moments from 'moving day' with her 843,000 fans, praising the removal team. She wrote: "It's moving day! ! ! And using our trusted and amazing removal team @weareanyvan Just a big shout out to you guys you've never let us down! " She also mentioned keeping the movers fuelled with hot drinks: "I'll get the kettle on."

Kerry Katona revealed last month that her family would be moving home, a statement that took many by surprise. She told OK!: "We're moving next month and we haven't packed a single thing. We are not prepared! I'm really sad to leave this house because it's gorgeous and we really get along with our neighbours. It's a shame. But I want a house to feel homely and this one is just so big I can't keep on top of it!".

The mum of five then explained her reasoning behind the move, saying, "There will be less mess for me to tidy up after the kids in the new house and it's still close by for DJ's school."

Kerry purchased the stunning six-bedroom home complete with its own cinema room 13 years after facing financial hardship and losing everything. Her journey included filing bankruptcy twice, once in 2008 and again in 2013, reports the Mirror. However, since she signed up to adult site OnlyFans, she revealed she regained her millionaire status and got her life back.

Taking to Instagram to share her joy at the time, she encouraged her fans: "Good morning you beautiful people! ! ! Well it's official! ! After losing EVERYTHING 13 years ago and having to rent I've finally bought me a house! ! I never gave up! If I can turn things around and get back on top ANYONE can."

Now, it seems like Kerry is planning to stay in the Cheshire area as she mentioned the family were not moving far. Earlier this week, she disclosed they are looking to buy their next home together.

Kerry revealed: "We have the keys to our new place now, which is exciting. We're renting, but I found out this week that I've been accepted for a mortgage from a high street bank, which I'm so happy about. I've been trying to get on the property ladder for so long and it shows that you really can turn your life around."
