Katie Price raped at gunpoint during 2018 South African carjacking

Katie Price has revealed she was raped when she was held at gunpoint in South Africa in 2018.

The TV star has been candid about the frightening ordeal in the past, which happened when she was shooting her show My Crazy Life in the country and led to a failed suicide attempt.

She's previously said she was sexually assaulted, but now Katie has told MailOnline the extent of that assault in a new interview ahead of the release of her Channel 4 documentary Katie Price: Trauma and Me.

Her children Junior and Princess were with her at the time, as well as a TV crew when their cars were stopped and robbed of valuables.

"The experience when I was filming with ITV in South Africa, we had no security, if we had security they would have been able to deal with the six guys that jumped us, held me at gunpoint and raped me," Katie stated.

In her new documentary, the 44-year-old examines the events leading up to her drink and drug drive car smash in September 2021.

She has since sought help and had therapy at world-famous mental health facility The Priory - though not for the reasons many believe.

"I have had my eyes opened about a lot. When you go in The Priory, people assume that it must be for drinks or drugs," she said. "I have never ever been in The Priory for drink, drugs or addiction. I have been in The Priory for trauma rehabilitation for PTSD.

"Because of what people believe, it affects me. There is a stigma that if you go in The Priory, you are a wrong 'un, but that's not true. I think people who go in there are brave because they are facing their demons and whatever their problems are to make themselves a better person."
