Katie Price and Kerry Katona discuss Las Vegas double wedding after Kerry's painful surgery
It’s been a tough few weeks for Kerry Katona. Following gruelling surgery on her nose, which caused her agony, the mum-of-five faced further upset when her fiancé Ryan Mahoney failed to contact her following the op and she moved in with her mum Sue.
But, while Ryan and Kerry have now kissed and made up after the painful reconstructive procedure and relationship blip, Kerry’s thankful that close pal and glamour model turned reality star Katie Price has been by her side for the whole ordeal.
“Katie called Kerry almost every day while Kerry was staying at her mum’s after the surgery. She’s been a real rock and Kerry appreciates it,” a source told us. “Katie understands what it can be like and they’ve gotten much closer again over the last few months. Kerry feels she can really lean on Katie again.”
Last week, in an emotionally charged column, Kerry, 43, told readers of her tears since going under the knife as she struggled to look at her new face in the mirror and was disheartened at the lack of support from Ryan.
“If I’m honest, I’ve felt more lonely than ever during my recovery,” she explained. “Ryan was away getting a tattoo in London when I went into hospital and I haven’t seen him since my surgery over a week ago. That upset me, because it made me feel unsupported and I could have done with the emotional support.”
However, while she had her mum caring for her during her recovery, she’s also taken comfort in the wise words of fellow mum-of-five Katie, who she first formed a friendship with when they both took part in I’m A Celeb in 2004. They’ve had a tumultuous relationship over the years – with Kerry declaring two years ago that she and Katie only exchanged the “odd text every now and then” – but have grown closer since they joined forces for a NYE party last December.
“Ever since they spent New Year together it’s really bonded them and they’re so happy to be close again,” the source said. “Katie was giving Kerry advice on her issues with Ryan and also helping her through the nose recovery since she’s had a nose job before.”
Kerry and personal trainer Ryan first met in 2017 on dating app Bumble and he popped the question in 2020, while on holiday in Spain. The pair have yet to set a date for their wedding, which her five children – Molly, 22, Lilly-Sue, 21, Heidi, 17, Max, 16 and 10-year-old DJ will all attend – but Kerry has said multiple times that she dreams of a Vegas ceremony. However, in light of recent events and the couple’s rocky period, whether divorcee Kerry will make it down the aisle for the fourth time is now in question.
“Kerry and Ryan are back living together now and have made amends, but Kerry does have doubts when it comes to getting married,” the source added. “She’s scared to get married and have it not work out again and doesn’t know whether she can do it. She wants to be husband and wife and does believe they will be together forever, but is really scared to take the plunge and doesn’t want it to fail. If they do it, they’re saying it will be eloping in Vegas and have said about doing it this year, but whether they will get to the altar is another story.”
Meanwhile, Katie, 46, who has also had three failed marriages, is now loved-up with MAFS star JJ Slater and the couple went public with their romance back in February. And Kerry, who has previously been married to Brian McFadden, Mark Croft and the late George Kay, is said to be keen to get pal Katie and her new beau JJ in on the marriage action – if a wedding with Ryan does go ahead.
“Kerry has been joking that she’ll do a double wedding with Katie and JJ and her and Ryan in Vegas, she loves the idea,” our source said. “Katie’s in a really good place right now and is feeling good about her own love life.”
Now that would be the showbiz wedding of the century!
