Katie Holmes’s Easy Sunday Look Proves Wrinkly, Unironed Clothes Are In For Summer

Katie Holmes—our favourite source of inspiration for chic, lazy-girl dressing—has done it again.

On Sunday in New York City, the actor stepped out in the ultimate easy Sunday look for late summer. Up top, she wore a long striped orange button-down with hints of white and yellow, which she rolled up at the sleeves.

In a true lazy-girl moment, Holmes didn’t bother to steam the wrinkled fabric of the shirt—a move which is now making me think wrinkled clothes might actually be … stylish?

For bottoms, the Rare Objects director opted for thick gray sweatpants that cut off just above her ankles. And for footwear, she stuck to her new favourite grandpa sandals: a brown suede pair with black rubber soles.

Holmes finished her look with a weekend errand-run staple: the enormous tote. This one was a leather piece in a soft caramel brown.

To match the earth tones of her fit, the Dawson’s Creek alum added some square plum-colored PVC sunglasses. And for a welcome boho touch, she wore a beaded white, gold, and gray necklace with some dangling seashells, as well as her go-to silver nose hoop.

Apart from her unexpected outfits, another great thing about Holmes’s street style is her no-fuss approach to beauty, which this year has included dripping wet straight-out-of-the-shower hair and absolutely no make-up. Such was the case with her look yesterday, and we love to see it.
