Duchess of Cambridge sports sold-out Mulberry bag for outing with the in-laws

Watch: Duchess of Cambridge joins Charles and Camilla

Kate Middleton looked the picture of elegance today as she stepped out in a grey wool dress and a new handbag.

The Duchess of Cambridge joined her in-laws Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall for their first Royal engagement as a trio.

Kate, 40, opted for her trusted Catherine Walker belted grey dress for the outing, which she wore with black tights and black suede pumps by Gianvito Rossi.

The long-sleeved dress in pale grey with a black collar features a fitted bodice, a flared skirt and a wide buckled belt accentuating her waist.

With her hair in a wavy half-up-do, she finished the look with Princess Diana’s sapphire and diamond earrings.

Kate previously wore the dress in 2019, during an engagement with the Queen at King’s College, London.

On that occasion she accessorised with a straight hair style, a black beret-style hat and a clutch bag.

A huge fan of reworking old favourites, Kate also wore the same coat-dress when honouring Holocaust Memorial Day in 2020, this time accessorised with pearl earrings and a simple black clutch.

The new bag she carried for her latest engagement - a £695 Mulberry Small Amberley soft printed croc leather bag - brought the look right-up-to-date.

Micro-bags are part of a growing trend with celebrities including Rihanna, Alexa Chung and Kylie Jenner all recently spotted with smaller bags.

Kate’s choice by British designer Mulberry also features a chain cross-body strap. The bag was sold out on the Mulberry website today.

The Duchess, Charles and Camilla were visiting the Prince’s Foundation’s Trinity Buoy Wharf, a training site for arts and culture in east London’s Docklands.

Charles invited his daughter-in-law to join him and Camilla on the engagement because of her interest in and longstanding support for the arts and creative industries.

Kate’s patronages include the National Portrait Gallery, The V&A and The Royal Photographic Society.
