Who is Kamala Harris' husband? Inside candidate's marriage, grown up kids and sweet nickname
The wait for those in the US and watching across the nation is nearly over on Tuesday November 5, as people await the looming results of the next US president to be announced.
Kamala Harris' journey through the career ladder has smashed glass ceilings, with her partner now potentially on course to become the inaugural First Gentleman of the White House.
Should she secure victory in the US Election 2024, the current vice president would mark history as the nation's first female commander-in-chief, the Mirror reports.

Her trailblazing path was laid as she became the first woman and first woman of colour to occupy the vice-presidential post.
Inside her marriage
Douglas Emhoff, her partner since their marriage in 2014, has been a pillar of support throughout her career.
Not only is Douglas recognised as the first Jewish spouse of an American vice president, but at 60 years old, he also boasts a highly successful legal career, previously working as an influential lawyer in the US.
His journey started in entertainment law, leading him to become the managing director at Venable's West Coast operations and then a partner at DLA Piper, where reports suggest he made $1.2 million annually.
When Kamala rallied behind Joe Biden for the 2020 presidential race, Douglas took a leave from his professional duties. He is equally accomplished academically, serving as a distinguished visiting professor at Georgetown University Law Center.
How did they meet?
The pair's romance began after a mutual friend introduced them, leading to an instant spark between the pair. Kamala Harris divulged in her 2019 memoir "The Truths We Hold" the charmingly ordinary way she and Doug Emhoff first met, via a classic blind date. As many singles do, the then-attorney general of California conducted some essential pre-date sleuthing.

In her book, Kamala recounted how in 2013, a friend had set her up, describing the man as 'cute' and from LA, but with one firm rule. Kamala recalled her friend's cautionary advice: "'His name is Doug Emhoff, but promise me you won't Google him. Don't overthink it. Just meet him. I already gave him your number. He's going to reach out'."
Yet, as Kamala later confessed in a 2021 chat, curiosity got the better of her. In a revelation that caught Doug off guard during a joint interview with CBS News, Kamala admitted: "My best friend set us up on a blind date. And she said, 'Just trust me. Just trust me. Just don't ... You know, she wanted me to just kind of go into it, and she said, 'Don't Google him'. I did!"
Family Life
While Kamala and Doug don't share biological children, Kamala plays a cherished role in the lives of Doug's children Cole, 29, and Ella, 24. She even maintains a close relationship with their mum, Doug's former wife Kerstin Emhoff, and cherishes her title as 'Momala' to her stepchildren, a role she says holds the greatest significance for her.
In a 2019 interview with Elle, she shared her unique approach to being their stepmother. "When Doug and I got married, Cole, Ella, and I agreed that we didn't like the term 'stepmom'. Instead they came up with the name 'Momala'."
Kamala has spoken fondly of the two in the past, classifying them as "talented and funny" and stating that they have blossomed into "remarkable adults." In a personal essay for Elle from the same year, she wrote: "I was already hooked on Doug, but I believe it was Cole and Ella who reeled me in."
