Fisayo Longe on her favourite things Hearst Owned

Every month at Red magazine, we ask one of our readers' most-loved tastemakers to share their favourite things for our My List Of Everything column. From fashion finds and foodie gems to holiday destinations and must-read books, the coolest, most stylish Red women have expertly-picked recommendations for you to choose from.

For our March issue, we spoke with Fisayo Longe, founder of fashion and lifestyle brand, Kai Collective. The London-based label has the seal of approval from stars like Beyoncé and Adwoa Aboah, and here, Fisayo shares what she can't stop buying for her home, her signature lipstick and the mantra she lives by...

My favourite podcast is… How I Built This with Guy Raz. He interviews founders from across industries and I find it so interesting! It helps me get my mind right and motivates me to strive for more.

My favourite candle is… Otto by Malin & Goetz. I love to light it on a weekend when I’m able to go at a slower pace.

My signature lipstick is… Fenty Beauty’s Liquid Lipstick in the shade Bread Winn’r. It’s a deep brown and I think it’s so versatile. I wear it everywhere, all the time!

My favourite independent shop is… Gentlewench in Marylebone. They have such a unique edit and have introduced me to such cool brands.

My foodie weakness is… Pounded yam and edikaikong. It’s a Nigerian delicacy and I love it! It’s just so good and nostalgic.

When I send flowers, I use… Moyses Stevens, which my friend put me on to. Generally, I love peonies but right now, I’m going through a hydrangeas phase.

My favourite pair of shoes are... A pair of super rare, structural gold Dolce and Gabbana birdcage heels. I got them from a vintage store in Marylebone. I’m a shoe girl; I have so many and it’s always changing!

The shade I always paint my nails is… Usually some sort of airbrushed ombre effect. I love an unexpected combination, like baby blue against red.

The book I keep on my bedside table is… The Parlour Wife by Foluso Agbaje. It’s an incredible book by a childhood friend, who I didn’t know was an author until she published her first book. I think it’s so cool as she works in corporate – a reminder to never give up on your dreams! Then The Alchemist is always a great book to return to, to remind you of your purpose and its importance.

My favourite holiday was… Mexico City and San Miguel De Allende. In September 2022. I remember riding horses in the mountains and deciding that I would change my life and create a better, freer way of working for myself, and then I came back and did it.

My favourite hotel for a weekend away is… Soho Farmhouse for a weekend away in the UK. But, my favourite hotel of all time is Cuixmala in Jalisco, Mexico. From the architecture and the beach, to the zebras roaming around and alligators in plain sight, it is an experience of a lifetime.

One thing I can’t stop buying for my home is… Art and vases. I just moved home, and I’m buying a lot. I’ve actually lost count of how many I have and where it’s all going to go! Good thing that I’m a maximalist.

The song that gets me on the dance floor is… "Attends" by an independent artist called Brazy. She’s a young Nigerian musician, and it’s just so good!

My fool-proof dinner party dish is… Spicy creamy chicken pesto pasta. The pasta and some honey truffle salad does the job every time!

The mantra I live by is… Your life is yours. Live life on your own terms in a way that you are proud of, because at the end of the day, the only person that must live with the repercussions of living a life that was not authentic to you, is you.
