After more than two decades, six seasons, two films and a long-awaited reboot, it seems Carrie Bradshaw is finally getting the happy ending she's been waiting for.
Ahead of the release of And Just Like That season two, which is currently filming in New York City, distributor HBO Max has been teasing fans with snippets of information and pictures from the set – and the latest to emerge is sending fans everywhere into overdrive.
After months of speculation, new photos seem to confirm that Carrie Bradshaw and her ex-fiancé Aidan Shaw, played by John Corbett, are rekindling their ill-fated romance. Sarah Jessica Parker shared images on Instagram of the duo embracing and kissing, with the caption 'This. Is. Not. A. Drill. X, SJ'.
The official And Just Like That Instagram page also shared the photos, captioning them 'And just like that Carrie is back on her tip toes.' It's all rather overwhelming, we have to say – and we're not the only ones to think so. Gwyneth Paltrow took to the comments section to write 'NO WAYYYYYY' alongside Bravo TV's Andy Cohen who said 'I’m freaking'. Our sentiments exactly.
Sarah Jessica Parker and HBO Max have been teasing the news for months, posting photos of the duo reunited and holding hands, having lunch with friends and even shopping for homewares – but this is the first official confirmation that Carrie and Aidan are actually a romantic item once again. And to those suggesting it's a dream sequence, we're sorry (/delighted) to say that further photos from a different scene entirely have also been released, that show the couple kissing passionately on Carrie's doorstep too.
Carrie and Aidan broke up in Sex And The City season four due to Carrie's inability to commit (and the fact she still secretly loved 'Big' all along) and last crossed paths in an Abu Dhabi souq in the film Sex And The City 2 when they shared a kiss despite Carrie being married to Big. But now, following his tragic death in season one of And Just Like That, there's nothing holding the two back from rekindling their romance once and for all...
