Adam and Leighton hit the Golden Globes 2025 red carpet! After the major success of his Netflix show, Nobody Wants This, the internet has been obsessing over Adam Brody - and his super nostalgic relationship with Leighton Meester, of course.

2007
Adam and Leighton meet for the first time at Canter’s Deli in West Hollywood — around the time The OC was ending and Gossip Girl was just starting. Adam recounted the moment to Anna Faris on her Unqualified podcast, saying, “Josh Schwartz produced both shows and literally the first time we met, that whole cast was eating at Canter’s and I lived at Canter’s for, like, my entire 20s. And I was leaving, and he introduced all of us.”
2011
Adam and Leighton are cast in The Oranges, but he’s dating someone else at the time. As he put it, “We did this movie together. I was seeing someone at the time....So we met kind of through mutual work friends off and on. And then we didn’t get together until about a year after that movie, when I was single.”
“I was very attracted to her from jump,” he added. “She’s a heavenly creature. I thought she was gorgeous. And even when we did the movie, there was chemistry there, but I was seeing someone.”
2013
Adam and Leighton start dating! Us Weekly breaks the news in early February, saying they’ve been “hanging out” for a few weeks. They go public with their relationship that year at the premiere of Adam’s film, Some Girl(s).
And by November, E! News reports that they’re engaged.
2014
Adam and Leighton make it official. A source tells E! News in February that “Leighton and Adam got married in Northern California by the ocean a couple of weeks ago. It was a very small and intimate wedding with close family and friends. It was beautiful.”
This same year, they costar in yet another movie: Life Partners. The name could...not be more accurate.
They also make their first *official* red carpet appearance together at the Tony Awards!
2015
Adam and Leighton welcome their first child, a daughter named Arlo, in September.

Leighton reveals her celeb crush growing up was, in fact, Adam, telling Access Hollywood, “When his show came out, I think I was just like, ‘I don’t want to watch that show, it’s a teenage show,’ even though I was 16, but all my friends watched it.
"I think maybe I thought he was cute. I remember he was a screensaver of one of my best friends when we were like 17. I saw it from afar. Her [screensaver] kind of changed every week, but I was like, who is that?”

Leighton calls Adam her soulmate during an interview with Net-a-Porter saying, “I wouldn’t change anything [in the past] because I’m happy where I am now. And I think that’s one of the many wonderful parts of not only having a child and meeting your soulmate, but also, I feel really lucky career-wise, really in a place that I want to be.”
2019
Adam guest stars on Leighton’s show Single Parents AND they go Instagram official....finally.
Meanwhile, Adam tells GQ, “She’s more inherently private than I am. I don’t seek publicity, but if I’m sitting next to you on the subway, I’ll tell you everything about me.
"We’re homebodies. We don’t go to a lot of things that perhaps we could and don’t seek out promotion in that way. I’m not shitting on anyone who monetises that aspect of their life, because I get it. But we’ve found this great balance so far that really works for us. We’re also not very active on social media.”

Adam talks about getting married to Leighton shortly after they started dating, saying on The Jess Cagle Show, “I was never scared of the idea of marriage or kids. It always seemed like a route I would go eventually, and I was excited...when it came together, when I met the right person...My wife and I actually got married very fast after we started dating. That’s how sort of easy a decision it was for me and us.”
He also recalls being smitten with Leighton when he first met her, saying, “I saw her, and, yeah, I was smitten instantly. And I was, you know, smitten for a long time. I didn’t get to know her for many years after, even though we even worked together briefly.
"She’s so lovely, and she’s so sweet....She’s so nice. She’s so good. And yet, and this is to her credit, she remained elusive to me for so long, you know, and aloof. I couldn’t get a total read because even though she professes to have been interested in me and all those things, not only did she not pursue that, I mean, she was perfectly willing to let that never happen.”

A source tells Us Weekly, “They really live their lives like a normal couple. They love being able to stick up for the other and are happier and more comfortable when they’re both on set.”
Meanwhile, Adam tells Today his key to a happy marriage: “Oh, pick someone good. Be lucky and be in love with someone who’s great and then just kind of listen to them.”
“If you’re with someone great, you’re on third base,” he adds. “Not that it doesn’t take sacrifice and humility and you have to grow together and you have to be willing to grow, because you’re not going to be able to stay 100 percent right where you are. But if you’re with someone wonderful, I think you’re on third base.”
