Actress and The Honest Company co-founder, Jessica Alba, just shared a glimpse into how she keeps her skin so great with her latest no-makeup Instagram selfie.

Over the weekend, she hit up The Things We Do spa over in Los Angeles and tried a super trendy treatment: an acupuncture facial, posting a pic of her makeup-free face covered in tiny needles.

This isn't the first time Jessica posted an Instagram selfie with needles: Just last week she shared her new constellation tattoo, which is based off of her kids' astrological signs.

So why exactly would someone voluntarily stick a bunch of needles in their face? Fans of acufacials (as the beauty industry calls them) claim they can do everything from boost circulation to increasing collagen production and relaxing muscles, giving a more lifted appearance to the face.

Acupuncture facials are trending now, as a sort of natural alternative to Botox, but they're not new – Chinese medicine practitioners have been doing them for centuries.
