The Jeffrey Dahmer School Days Movie Is A Dead-Cert For Grimmest Movie Of 2017
Just last week, we reported that Zac Efron was gearing up to play mass murderer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile – but it looks like the former High School Musical star isn't the only one vying to make the grimmest movie of the year.
A film centered around American killer Jeffrey Dahmer's school days called My Friend Dahmer – based on a graphic novel by schoolmate John Backderf – is set for release.
Starring doppelgänger Ross Lynch, the story will focus around real-life testimonies of the murderer's teenage years, including his obsession with bones, his twisted experiments, alcoholism and reputation as a class clown.
Parts of the film are even shot in Dahmer's real house, which director Marc Mayers got permission for while filming in Ohio.
Dahmer killed his first victim weeks after graduating at the age of 18, and carried out acts of murder and cannibalism for 13 years before being arrested. He died three years later after a violent attack in prison. Director Mayer's states that the film will explore "the story before the story", and the concept of nature versus nurture.
The movie is set for release later this year and has already received solid reviews (83% on Rotten Tomatoes), having debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier in the year.
