84-year-old Japanese grandfather becomes Instagram fashion sensation
For any millennials out there stuck in a style rut, it’s high time you looked to your elders for fashion inspiration.
Tetsuya, 84, has become an Instagram sensation after his grandson, Naoya Kudo, decided to style him in his own designer clobber.
During Golden Week, a period in which four public holidays fall, Kudo asked his grandfather to pose for a shoot clad in everything from that world-famous Kenzo knit to Burberry heritage checks.
The retired Chemistry teacher’s Instagram page, slvr.tty, has since amassed over 89,000 followers with social media users desperate to recreate his style.
“You’re fresher than the vegetables at my grocery store,” one wrote.
While another declared what we’re all thinking, “I want to be this cool when I’m old”.
Though it’s hardly surprising, as the shoot is worthy of our SS19 mood board.
One of the images shows the 84-year-old decked in a fresh-from-the-runway Loewe knit and Drôle de Monsieur track pants complete with a clashing baker boy cap. One word: chic.
A second shot further demonstrates the grandfather’s fashion know-how, as he poses by the sunset (he’s got that blogger aesthetic down) in a baby pink Vetements coat.
But they’re not the only gram-worthy brands he can pull off with ease, as he’s also photographed watering the plants in Givenchy and mowing the lawn in £650 Maison Margiela ‘Tabi’ boots.
