American actor Jamie Foxx has opened up about a harrowing experience that saw him hospitalised last year, revealing he has no memory of the incident after taking a pill and waking up 20 days later.

The Horrible Bosses star, 56, found himself in a serious health scare in April 2023, which his daughter Corinne Foxx, aged 29, described as a "medical complication". Following the event, Jamie spent time in a physical rehab centre and has since spoken out a few times regarding his condition.

Now, in a shocking new revelation, Jamie has given more insight into the frightening episode.

While addressing an audience in downtown Phoenix, USA, Jamie shared details about his hospital stay with footage of the talk posted by the Art Of Dialogue on X, previously known as Twitter. In the clip, Jamie recounts how he was "gone" for 20 days after simply trying to alleviate a "bad headache" with a pill.

"I had a bad headache. Asked my boy for an Advil."

Jamie recounted, snapping his fingers to emphasise the suddenness of the event, before confessing to the crowd: "I was gone for 20 days. I don't remember anything. So they told me... I'm in Atlanta... they told me... my sister and daughter took me to the first doctor. [They] gave me a cortisone shot."

Jamie then gestured towards his head and continued: "Next doctor said '[there's] something going on up there'."

He concluded with a hint of caution: "I won't say it on camera. Yeah, I don't want to say it on camera."

This isn't the first instance where Jamie, celebrated for his role in the film Ray (2004), has publicly discussed his ordeal.

Last July, the actor also shared a candid video message with his followers on Instagram where he addressed some of the speculation about his health condition. Referring to his decision to keep his health status private at the time, he explained: "I didn't want fans to see me 'with tubes running out of [me] and trying to figure out if [I] was gonna make it through'."

Additionally, the actor assured his fans that he wasn't paralysed, despite rumours circulating online. He clarified in the clip: "By being quiet, sometimes things get out of hand. People saying what I got. Some people said I was blind, but as you can see, uh, but as you can see the eyes are working, the eyes are working just fine. They said I was paralysed, I'm not paralysed."

The actor confessed that there had been some truly challenging moments for him. He acknowledged that he was "very sick" yet appreciative to still be alive.

"But I did go through ... I went to hell and back. And my road to recovery had some potholes as well but I'm coming back."

Jamie also took the opportunity to thank his fans for their unwavering support and shared: "If you see me out from now on and every once in a while I just burst into tears, it's just because it's been tough, man. I was sick."
