Ivanka Trump's model past: All of the First Daughter's catwalk appearances
Ivanka Trump‘s official title may now be First Daughter of the United States but her past has included a lot more than just being the daughter of Donald and Ivana Trump.
After spending years in boarding school, a then 15-year-old Ivanka decided she wanted to become a model. Thanks to her father’s ties with Elite Model Management, Trump was signed on the spot to the agency’s celebrity division.
Paving the way for other celebrity offspring like Kendall Jenner and Kaia Gerber, Ivanka landed catwalk after catwalk for major designers including Vivienne Westwood, Thierry Mugler and Paco Rabanne.
Despite her blossoming success, Ivanka’s parents weren’t too keen on their eldest daughter’s new career path. They told her that she had to keep her grades up with Donald Trump telling the New York Times in 1997: “I am only modestly in favour of this because I understand that that life is a very fast life, and at that age it is always a risky proposition.”
However, Ivanka continued to work, appearing in a Tommy Hilfiger campaign as well as on the cover of Seventeen magazine.
But once she finished secondary school, the modelling bubble had burst. The First Daughter later admitted that she didn’t love the fashion industry, telling Marie Claire in 2007: “It’s as ruthless an industry as real estate – the people you meet in that business are just as fricking tough.”
She also described models as “the meanest, cattiest, bitchiest girls on the planet … entitled, unsupervised, undereducated, pampered teenagers whose every success came as the direct result of someone else’s disappointment.”
Here are all of Ivanka’s teenage catwalk appearances.
